Summary
Purple has never quite recovered from Red's betrayal after the reactor disaster. Their dismissal from MIRA left them broke and struggling for employment, so when Red appeared on their doorstep to offer them a job at the Skeld, they had little choice but to accept.
But being on the Skeld doesn't mean that Purple has forgiven Red. In fact, they go out of their way to avoid any interaction and lock themselves in the security room for hours on end.
Seeing no other (rational) option, Red comes up with a deluded plan in an attempt to get Purple to talk to them. But will it work? Or will it only deepen the chasm that already mars their relationship?

"Question," Red pipes up, "would be still be "coworkers" after we're booted off the job?"
Purple sighs, but their rolled eye is only a wall, and not one that keeps them away. They move, allowing a smile on their face, lightly nudging Red's shoulder when they make away from the window. Back to the ship and their new, not-forever-but-just-as-long life.
"Come on, Redsie," they say liltingly. There may or may be a tease in there. "Can't be asking too many questions."
(Alternatively, post-canon fluff on board, two weeks more in sight.)
