Summary
Frustrated by the pressure from both work and university combined, Galinda signs up for a pole dance class on a whim to finally do something for herself. It goes as good as could be expected, which is not at all, but she decides to soldier on anyway. Then one evening, her roommate joins her there. Turns out Elphaba is much better at this than Galinda ever hoped to be, and that doesn't help the crush Galinda has had on her for years.
Or, a story about pining and yearning and wilful ignorance born out of fear to ask for more, and how sometimes a bird in the hand is no better than two in the bush. How taking a risk could feel like both falling down and falling apart, and how it suddenly isn't that terrifying when someone is there to catch you.

“Excuse me for not considering all the other flying people out there,” Elphaba drolls, then glances around. They’re in some sort of contraption—a metal platform encased in a shiny, shifting transparent sphere—hovering steady in the fog. “What the hell even is this thing?”
“My bubble,” Glinda announces with a proud lift of her chin.

It’s less cohesive than the innards of a pig. That’s the problem with memory bound by emotion. Love is diffuse. It so easily becomes entangled in every aspect of the human experience, regardless of whether the target was physically present or not. Extracting it with any amount of elegance can get…dicey.

The only interesting thing Elphaba finds amongst the rest of the conspiracy board is a photo of a sheet-covered cadaver with nothing but their bare feet visible. Rather than any information identifying the body, Glinda has written a note over the photo that reads in a frenetic scribble NO SHOES WHY?????? and Elphaba thinks yes, Glinda Upland of the Upper Uplands does seem like the type to fashion-shame a corpse.
