Summary
An unnamed kingdom has been sectioned into two main parts.
The east, where the King, queen, and their prince live alongside their wealthy subjects; and the west, where everybody who doesn't fall under the same note of prestige is abandoned to struggle, suffer, or die.
Grian is convinced there is more at play than just 'bad luck,' and if he weren't so preoccupied with keeping himself, Pearl and Jimmy alive, he'd already be storming the castle.
SO.
Grian is a mercenary with an abnormal amount of skill. Scar is a disgraced and neglected prince. Their paths cross when an unknown client commissions the thief to break into the castle, turning his world, along with many others, upside down.

CuteGuy looked around Scar's apartment, smiling affectionately.
He caught himself, realizing that his heart was in his eyes. It was a little embarrassing to be so unabashedly fond in front of HotGuy.
Speaking of whom… the hero seemed to be breathing heavily. Maybe he’d pushed himself too hard to get here quickly.
“Here, sit down for a minute. You look winded,” CuteGuy said, pointing him to the couch. “Let me get you something to drink.” He went straight for the cupboard to the right of the stove, where Scar kept the glasses.
HotGuy sat down heavily, making a rasping noise in the back of his throat.
Better hurry with that water, Grian thought.Or: Mumbo is out of town, Grian's apartment is being remodeled, and CuteGuy needs a safe place to preen his wings. Suddenly, HotGuy finds himself somewhere much too familiar.
