Funny thing about being shot in the head, a decade later and Zaeed’s hearing still tends to falter at inopportune moments. Despite the one milky eye, his vision is still sharp as anything so long as he’s not starting into the goddamn sun. But his hearing? Total shite, apparently.
“I would have thought the transactional nature of the request was fairly familiar, for a mercenary like you,” Miranda says, crossing her arms. “I pay you, and you render services.”
“Yeah, I got that part. It’s the services in particular I was interested in.”
“I was perfectly clear,” Miranda narrows her eyes. “I’m interested in hiring you for sex.”
Zaeed tosses the weapon mod he’d been upgrading on the table with a loud clunk. “Yeah, that’s what I thought you said. I just couldn’t fucking believe it.”

MacCready sighs and looks up from the rifle he’s polishing. Last time he’d been out they’d run into an assload of bloatflies, and while he doesn’t mind bugs as a rule, three of the fuckers exploded close-range, leaving an oily residue that smells awful and strips clean through varnish if it’s left to dry. He’s fairly fastidious with his guns, as a rule, but he’d spent the last hour disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling his recon scope, and his fingers are starting to cramp. Danse is, of course, looming above him, silhouette wide and blocky. The power armor makes his head look oddly undersized. MacCready pushes the underside of his cap up a little to ensure his glare is properly visible.
“I’m not doing anything for your stupid Brotherhood, Danse. Go bother the boss if you want favors.”

Summary
