“It’s not that good. You’re lying.” Mira leaned in close to the camera, possibly to get a better look at the food in Zoey’s bowl.
Zoey looked at Mira wide-eyed. “Mira, it’s—oh my god. This is the greed the Bible warned me about.”
“You’ve never read the Bible,” snarked Mira.
“I just—the chef is gorgeous, Mira! And her food is—” Zoey lost her words, then she shook her head to reset her brain. “Babe,” said Zoey seriously, leveling her gaze at her girlfriend, “I’ve discovered the divine intervention that’s gonna get you to this place.”
Mira’s jaw dropped open. “Why didn’t you show me the hot chef?”
“Because my girlfriend is Aphrodite and the chef is Venus and my fucking brain exploded because I couldn’t put together a single thought when not one but two hot women were staring at me at the same time!” wailed Zoey, for her steak was too juicy and her lobster too buttery. “Besides, if you saw the hot chef that would be one less excuse to come eat here!”

The head full of unruly, black curls tilts back and she's met with wide brown eyes on a round face full of freckles. Freckles that look so much like her own it almost feels like she's looking at a mirror.

Summary
Rumi is a prodigy PHD student who wants to study the biology of Pandora, a planet far from her dying planet. She hopes the planet has the key to solving the climate crisis. If she is diligent and careful, she might be able to accomplish it, as long as she doesn't interact with the natives. They don't know about humans yet.
Zoey (friendly name for Zokeri) is very familiar with humans. They destroyed her ancestral home and killed her tribe's chief. The remnants of her tribe all have to seek refuge with a section of the ash tribe on the far coast. Though they are accepted, cultural differences keep her world unstable and it doesn't help that she has a crush on the Chief's daughter.
Mira (friendly name for Mirkatkaina) hates her new home, its cold, its noisy, it smells like fish and she has to mix in with the sea Metkayina and deal with all their issues on top of her own clan's. Like the one main ash clan, her father is tempted to ally themselves with the starpeople, though that would cause an uproar. It would especially upset the traumatized cute girl she really wants to mate with.
Jinu the horse was bred for one thing. War. He can't have war though, so he chooses all other forms of chaos.

Mira's father is not a good father. His encouragements are double-edged, his kindness conditional. Mira is either his to shape into whatever he wants, or she is useless. Fatherhood is just business and children are just contracts to be refined.
Zoey's father is not a good father. Never listens, always silences. Zoey's never enough, too loud, too distracted, too Korean. She's more than can be handled, too quiet, too fixated, too American. Fatherhood feels like a contradiction.
Rumi's father is quite literally a demon from the darkest depths of hell. He promised his daughter would never live in shame. He'll make sure these two girls, these brave hunters, the light in Rumi's life, never will either.

Rumi looks down. “Your soul,” she whispers mournfully, enraptured by the blue light trickling out of his chest. “It’s beautiful.”
Jinu smiles.
Gently, he presses his forehead against hers. Rumi jolts, eyes widening, but to his relief, she doesn’t pull away.
“My soul,” he echoes softly. “It’s yours, now.”
Rumi opens her mouth, but no words escape her as she gapes at him. A tear cascades down her cheek.
“It’s mine to give, and yours to take, if you’ll have me.” His vision is blurring, and so he lets his eyes fall shut, allowing the darkness to encompass him. He forces himself to believe that the lull of sleep is accepted of his own volition.
His cheeks tingle. Rumi is holding onto his face. “No, no, no—” she grits out. Her voice is growing distant. “Stop. You can’t do this to me.” The words rush out of her in a frenzy, full of haste and distress. “Jinu.”
“Rumi,” he responds in a broken murmur. “Thank you.”
She was right. Gwi-Ma could be defeated.
He should have listened to her.
(Or: A fix-it/time-travel au where Jinu goes back to the very beginning of the story and sets things right.)

When Gwi-Ma see's the blooming romance between hi-the Saja boys! He decides to nip any of that in the bud. Gwi-Ma is arguably the scariest manager in the industry to all but the Hunters oblivious manager Bobby who not only loves his purple tattoos (he would never hear the end of that from Jinu), thinks his purple and pink hair really suits him despite public opinions on it (no he did not care what pathetic humans thought of his hair colour-it's just easier for the mission to appease them) and is also obsessed with collaborating with the Saja boys (that was fine, it's only easier on them to take down the hunters from the inside, just why do they have to meet up in person and in nice restaurants where Bobby always races him to pay for their food or drinks all the time?)
Will Gwi-Ma ever realise that he is not in fact allergic to the very specific and rare breed of human beings who (unknowingly) manage (and parent) demon hunters in the cutest way possible?

Celine is trying her best to raise a half demon three year old, but Rumi behaves more like a full demon. That's fine for Celine since she's a demon hunter and is able to keep up with Rumi's antics, but a normal daycare? She doesn't think they can handle her. Too bad, she has no other choice and has to leave Rumi for a day. Unfortunately for her the daycare she chose also houses Mira Kotadoski, a wonderfully behaved girl from a mommy vlog channel and Zoey who is just a little angel. They aren't going to be able to handle Rumi or that kid "Baby" who Celine knows is a demon.
