Pressing the call button with a shaky thumb, he held the phone to his ear. His breathing was shallow and panicked as he waited for Ratio to pick up.
“Aventurine?”
The comfort that he felt from that smooth deep voice was like cool water on a burn. But the concern in his tone was evident, the doctor hearing every panicked breath from the other end of the line.
“Veritas,”
Aventurine chokes out, his voice quivering. Before he can even explain, Ratio is already on the way to his apartment. Grabbing his coat, starting his car and driving with the phone pressed to his ear.
He knew that Aventurine never said his name like that unless something was wrong. Very wrong.
“Aventurine, I'm on my way. Stay with me.”
