He looks at his family, now. At the grins on his parents’ faces. At Izzy and Jace dancing away. At Clary and Simon watching them half the time, and bickering about something the other half, wearing huge smiles regardless. At Maia, who’s still staring at him worriedly, awaiting his response. And he’s filled with a sense of reassurance, because he knows that, no matter what happens, he’ll always have his family. He’ll always have this.
“Yeah,” He tells her, nodding slightly, the corners of his lips tugging up into a small smile.
“Yeah, I’m okay.”

Magnus will forget any and all memories he has of you. Asmodeus had told him, with a gleeful grin spreading across his face as Alec’s heart had plummeted towards the ground, dread coursing through his veins.
"Slip this into one of his drinks, he’ll never notice. But mark my words, you’ll have a mere ten minutes with him, before his mind resets itself to before he ever met you.
It'll be like you never even existed."

Summary
You hope the pain here, will overpower the pain there. He can hear Magnus's voice in his head, right from the condescending tone to the look of disappointment he would've sent his way, but it doesn't stop the familiar itch, the ache to let the arrows rip, to let the blood flow.
He stays put.
