The zapper made contact with his hand and Zed howled, reeling away so hard his back hit the ground. He clutched at his right wrist, half expecting to see it empty after his hand had exploded. Surely there could be nothing left after each skin cell was ripped apart. Zed cradled his hand close to his chest, his body curling in on itself. Laying on his side, he heard the crackle of the zapper from above growing closer and knew what was about to happen again.
“Please,” he croaked, but he didn’t bother to raise a hand this time, merely ducking his head.
“What the hell are you doing?”
When Zed has Bucky cornered under the bleachers in the first movie and gets zapped by the Z-Patrol, Addison does more than say "What are you doing? Stop!" She fights for him with everything she has. Even if it means risking her life.

When Dean has his face to face with Death to deal with the Mark he is actually presented with two options, one of which is to bind his soul with his soulmate to distribute the load between the two and therefore be able to manage the Mark's effects. Dean thinks it's too much burden to place on his brother but Sam has a different reaction. Guess who wins that argument.
“Wait a minute… I can’t do that to Sam, I can’t ask him to help me carry this burden and have it destroy him as well.”
“Then the only other option is that I would need to relocate you somewhere far away… not even on this earth… where you’d still be alive but no longer a danger to yourself or to others?”
“Okay, then that… I choose that.” Dean said and tried not to think of what that choice would mean, that he’d never see his brother again.
