But suddenly and jerkily Tendou straightened up and screamed. "NO!" Then there was silence. Michi, whose eyes had slowly become accustomed to the darkness, saw the dark outline of her friend sitting in the bed, burying his face in his hands.
Then she heard a sob. He was crying. Tendou was crying. Even though she had seen him cry before today and had seen him cry before, it was always surreal to her when the redhead cried. She knew him as the one who built others up, made them laugh with his silly sayings, and didn't care what others thought of him. To see him cry then was the exact opposite of the Tendou Satori he seemed to be on the outside.Series

They had gone to the same school in junior high. This student had given him the nicknames Yokai or Monster, which for some reason haunted him to this day.
Also, he and his friends had constantly insulted Tendou and sometimes they got physical and beat him up. Just because they didn't like how he looked and how he acted.

Summary
Ushijima Wakatoshi recalls a time long ago when the only thing that mattered was going to nationals, university applications, if he would be scouted for the national volleyball team before he got himself to deep in unnecessary student debt, just how much time he could steal away to make sure his omega was loved and cared for. He isn't alone in this.
Ten years have passed since his seemingly simple life was torn asunder with the disappearance of said omega which opened is eyes to an entire world full of darkness he didn't even know he had been toeing the line of already.
At age 28, Wakatoshi and the rest of Tokyo's tactile cold case team have abandoned hopes of finding out exactly what had happened all those years ago that lead them do abandoning their now childish hopes and dreams and take them on a much deeper, darker road through life.
Until the abyss stares back at them with cold eyes and intent to kill.
