“Just please let me get this out,” she said in a rush. Everything about Adora was desperate. “I know I’m not good with words. But. Please…”
“Alright dummy. Go ahead.”
“Ok. Just. I wake up and when you aren’t there, I’m not ok. I go to school and when you aren’t sitting next to me, I'm not ok. I just,” She winced. “Wow, that sounds really creepy.”
“I can read between the lines. Keep going,” Catra encouraged gently.
Adora smiled weakly. “I guess. You get me. You’re not… like other girls,” she murmured. Then panic lit her eyes. “I mean! No! Like! Not that there’s anything wrong with other girls! Like. Girls are awesome! They’re all great and feminism and whatever, I just mean-” She stopped when Catra threw her head back in that perfect squeaking laugh of hers. Adora loved that laugh more than air.
“Oh my fucking God, you’re bad at this,” Catra teased.
Adora laughed weakly. “Yeah. I am. I guess. because I never tried for anyone else. No one else understood me. Or made me feel cared for… or valued for who I was over what I could do for them… I've never wanted anyone else… not like I want you.”
Catra smiled softly, eyes full of affection. “So. How long have you been in love with me?”
