    Summary

Soon enough, he knows, they'll come, and Azula knows this too. She has time to prepare. "Of course, I don't need the Avatar, yet. That's Zuzu's mission, after all."

"Good luck relying on him, the closest he's ever gotten to capturing Aang was when he went with him willingly." Her eyes flash as he talks in a way that freezes the air in his lungs. It's as if Katara has doused him in water once again.

"Yes, my brother is rather useless. Regardless, you should prepare to watch your friends face me again. There isn't much someone like you can do to protect them, after all. Unless, of course, you have something to offer me?" He says nothing and prays his face is still a mask of hatred, that it says nothing of the guilt and fear swimming in his blood.
    ~
Sokka has to protect them, and he only has one way left. He takes a deep breath and gives himself over, willingly. He gives knowledge, information, and rots in his own betrayal until he and Zuko escape. But the happy reunion he expects is farther off than he ever could have imagined. How can he make it through two younger sisters and his own regret?

    Part I: The Princess Returns

    Book I: The Embers

    ·‹¤›·

The war is over, and Azula has survived it.

Confined within the Fire Nation palace, stripped of rank and influence, she is forced to watch a new order take shape without her. Zuko rules in the name of peace. Foreign delegates debate the future of the colonies. Officials dismantle the machinery of empire while insisting that reconciliation has already begun.

Azula has no place in any of it.

For the first time in her life, she is neither feared nor needed. Her days are reduced to guarded rooms, rigid routines, and the humiliating knowledge that history has continued without asking her permission.

But peace has left questions behind.

The settlements are unstable. The victorious nations want justice. The Fire Nation wants dignity. Zuko wants a future that can escape their father’s legacy.

And somewhere beneath the silence of the palace, Azula is still listening.

The Embers is the first book of Azula: Fire Lord Forever, a long-form political tragedy about power, family, and the need to be necessary.

Her smile falls further. "It hurts," she whispers.

"I know," Zanka mumbles, continuing to count her breaths.

"It hurts," she repeats, and this time her voice breaks on a sob, making her frame convulse.

His train of thought is interrupted, and he starts from zero again. "I know," he repeats, his composure shattering, his features scrunching into a devastated expression as he frowns so hard his face aches.

Zanka is directly faced with the possibility of losing Riyo.

    Summary

Ever since Riyo had been adopted into HQ, she wasn't taking it well. Being without blood for months was slowly driving her insane. She didn't understand why… Why did they decided to save her from the Hell Guards before they executed her? It just didn't make sense. There had to be some underlying motive, something they weren't telling her, and the longer she went without finding it, the more it ate away at her.
