Summary
Moments from the age of the Demon King, in which the blue-haired hero holds his breath and ascends the throws of deep affection. To be unrequited is to quietly surrender, to be spirit-bound by lovely eyes, and to be pushed down an abyssal canyon of death. But he rises to meet her, and she observes him from a tower that flies above time itself.
But out of the corner of her book, she watches him.
Frieren listens closely to the song he plays on the ocarina; she is lost within her past, caught between the glow of his eyes and the lift of his fingers.
She tries to unravel the memory, but the man she travels with haunts her thoughts relentlessly. She is led to believe the two are connected, but it’s not easy getting to the bottom of things when you’re a member of the hero’s party.

She reached down and pulled the small knife from her sock. She tossed it between her and Quiche, letting it skid to a stop on the slick, white floors. Quiche hummed in amusement, his smirk growing wider as he glanced between Ichigo and the knife on the ground between them. A truce, of sorts — or, at least, that was what Ichigo intended it as. A hand of cards laid down between them.
“Don’t come into my room anymore,” Ichigo muttered, “and maybe I won’t need those.”
