A second, then a blur. Ilya knocking over one of the kitchen island stools to engulf Shane. His shaking frame holding Shane so tight, Shane felt himself shaking back. He could only hold on back, just as tightly.
“Please.” Came the strangled voice by his left ear. “Please, tell me.”
And who was Shane to ever deny a wish of Ilya Rozanov.
“I’m signing to Ottawa. Tomorrow. If you would want to come with.”
And then Ilya was shoving him back, holding him close to his face. “Of course. I drive. Of course I come.”
Or
Shane, fed up with Montreal, signs to Ottawa before their relationship is revealed. While he doesn't plan on keeping that a secret for long, he asks Ilya to let him get to know the team first, before they come out. To maybe have a normal season. For some reason, everyone has a terrible first impression of Ilya Rozanov. Many have an outlandish hatred of him, distrust him, or think he's a terrible fit for Shane Hollander in one way or another. They see him as the villain in Shane's love story, regardless of Shane's many objections to the contrary.
Unfortunately for them, they couldn't be more wrong about Ilya, and each and every one of them is going to slowly come to realize what a good man he is, firsthand, as Ilya worms his way into their hearts and minds.

Luca glanced sideways at Boodram, who was frozen with one arm in his jacket. It truly would have been hilarious, the way they all watched this scene unfold like a car crash, if it didn’t also feel like one.
They shared a confused glance, turning back when Rozanov’s incredulous “A ride?” rang through the locker room.
“Yeah, I, uh, figured I could use one since I just…quit the Metros,” Hollander said slowly, heaving an exhausted sigh afterwards.

Summary
Wyatt wasn’t in the business of passing judgement on people he didn’t know very well, but it was hard not to with Rozanov. Beside Dallas Kent, who Wyatt had the misfortune of being on a team with, Rozanov was probably the most notorious asshole in the league.
But while Wyatt had certainly heard Rozanov chirp and say things that were demonstrably malicious, he couldn’t think of a time Rozanov had used a slur, or said anything even remotely offensive. He stuck to chirps about the actual hockey ability of his quarry, and, while they often stung and were usually egregiously hyperbolic in nature, they were never vulgar or derogatory.
And now this: Shane, probably the nicest hockey player Wyatt had ever encountered in his tenure in the NHL, had invited Rozanov to be co-director of the charity. And not only that, but Shane had named it after Rozanov’s mother. Wyatt trusted Shane implicitly, so if Shane trusted Rozanov, then so did Wyatt.
