Optimus had loved him in a way that was so all-encompassing as to be incomparable. The memory of Soundwave’s sympathetic stare and Starscream’s frustrated huff when Megatron had tried to convey this - while being so drunk that he’d actually admitted to being lonely - still made him bristle.
“Be open,” Soundwave had advised quietly. “Megatron, deserves to be happy.”
“What you deserve is a good fuck,” Starscream had interrupted, eyes shining in that dangerous way it did whenever he’d drank too much wine too quickly. “He told you to move on. Don’t think we didn’t hear it.”
