Summary
Owen Grady has always felt more connected to animals than to people. He capitalized on this connection in the Navy to train dogs and dolphins, and he uses it when Simon Masrani calls him to ask if he wants a job. Velociraptors can't be so different from all the other animals he's worked with, right?
Then the first egg hatches.
He watches as sharp claws pierce the outer shell of the egg, slowly tearing open the material. The animal moves slowly. She’s just a baby, he knows, so her muscles aren’t at their best, but even now he’s sure those claws could rip out his throat with no effort. A yellow eye peers out from the gap in the egg. Owen stares back at it, unblinking. He smiles as a noise comes from the egg, a raspy chirp that makes an inhuman sound of his own bubble up his throat before he can push it back down.

Summary
Of all the ways Arthur and the knights could've found out about his magic, Merlin hadn't thought it'd be due to a sparrow. There will be a happy ending, but it's gonna take a while.
"Arthur was terrified when he saw Merlin make up his mind to jump. He put on a burst of speed, willing his body to give everything he had so he could just-reach out and….He crashed at full speed into the warlock, knocking them both out of breath, but most importantly, far away from the edge of the ravine. Merlin fought him, kicking and clawing for escape, but it was clear that whatever had fueled him for so long was gone, and eventually the kicking and punching and shouting was gone, and Merlin wept in Arthur’s arms, trembling hard.
“Sorry, so sorry, so so sorry. ‘M so sorry, Arthur,” he sobbed desperately, and Arthur held him close, heart racing and eyes wet. “I’m so sorry, please don’t burn me. I’m so sorry. I didn’ mean to, I was born with it.” Merlin cried, and Arthur shushed him gently."

"You were hurt." Merlin responded, tightly gripping Percy's arm to pull himself straight. He was confused as to why Arthur seemed mad.

Nearly almost loosing Merlin made Arthur realize just how much he cared for him and needed him in his life.
So when Camelot is faced with a new challenge, Arthur absolutely refuses to allow Merlin to deal with this one on his own. Merlin is confused about the whole ordeal, why does Arthur care this much?
He'd be surprised at how far Arthur is actually willing to go to protect the one he loves the most.
