This is it; this is happening.
He can hardly breathe and Will’s nearing face is the whole world. His eyes are still open, startled and huge, the last thing Mike sees. Their noses brush, chilled from the water that gushed over them in the bathroom and from the frigid November air, but the first press of their lips is so warm.
“Oh,” Will sighs into the tiny space between their mouths, tremulous with their breathing. “Oh, Mike—"
Will saves Mike's life, and there's nothing to be afraid of anymore.

Mike looked away from Will then, his eyes focusing on anything but Will.
Will gripped the blanket that was still wrapped around his legs.

Mike stopped himself again, scratching the back of his neck. "Like you are disappearing, I guess. I don't know. I guess it just reminded me of when I thought I lost you all those years ago, and when you were living in Lenora."Will took in a shaky breath. "You won't lose me. I'm not withering away-"
Will is at his wits end holding in the biggest secret of his life, his love for Mike. Will Mike hate him if he knew? Will he reject him completely? Will they still be friends?
Mike's been acting differently too though. He's been quieter, he's been initiating interactions more and trying his best to read every bit of Will he can. His expressions, his breathing, his body language. Why won't he just open up to Mike? Why is he noticing more things about Will he never noticed before?

Summary
The first time it happens, Will classifies it as a little accident.
When he wakes, the morning sun is burning through the window onto their faces, and Mike’s cursing as he stands to close the curtains, stumbling all the way.
“Scoot over,” he grumbles, voice dry, and for a second Will can’t do anything other than sigh like a lovesick idiot. It’s a second too late for Mike, because he grumbles more words Will doesn’t catch under his breath and then physically pushes Will towards the wall to lay beside him, arm over Will’s middle. A second of silence passes, then Mike sighs, only to whine: “Fuck, my head hurts.”
Will can’t help it: he breaks down laughing, much to Mike’s offense.

As he shuffled through the flannels and t-shirts, a shirt slipped off of one of the plastic hangers. “Oops,” he said aloud instinctively even though no one was around. He crouched down to pick it up from the floor when something in the corner caught his eye.
A box, full of papers. Envelopes? He looked over his shoulder and listened intently for a moment to make sure he wasn’t in danger of being caught, then reached in and pulled an envelope out.
To Will’s surprise, the envelope was addressed to him. In Lenora Hills.
Mike had been writing, he just hadn’t sent them.

By all measures, Mike is a good alpha. He checks all the boxes, really. Protective without being overbearing, quick to step in when someone’s in trouble, careful but not patronizing. He’s loud and boisterous, sure, but he’s also earnest, and sweet, and so goddamn chivalrous it’s stupid.
It’s all so horribly infuriating, and so infuriatingly endearing.
That’s the thing about instincts. They make everything so confusing. Will knows, rationally, that all of these things are just Mike’s way of being a good friend and packmate. And yet, there’s still a part of him—a decidedly omega part—that relishes in the attention in a way he knows he shouldn’t.
Navigating teenage relationships is hard enough. It's even harder when instincts get involved.

Summary
“It was violent. Just like him. Exactly how he does it,” he says, his voice unbelievably small, like he’s disappointed in himself. Which is strange, because Mike has never felt more proud of anyone in his entire life.
“You would never hurt even a fly,” Mike says. “I know you wouldn’t even hurt those monsters if you didn’t have to. You’re different. I've known you for as long as I remember being alive, Will.” His voice softens even more, like he needs Will to hear it, to believe it, because he means every word.
