17:11 TSUKKI <3
you still haven’t explained why you’re texting me
17:17 Kuroo Tetsurou
do i have to have a reason to check in on my favorite kohai?
17:20 TSUKKI <3
yes.
17:22 Kuroo Tetsurou
well, too bad
i just needed a quick dose of your sunshine-y personality to brighten my week
Tetsurou’s thumbs itch to type out, “And I think I might be in love with you,” but even he thinks that’d be hard to play off as a joke. -

Summary
Slowly, Kei began to see the signs - in the hallway light, Kuroo’s sweat-soaked skin was eerily pale; his breathing was rapid and shallow; his entire being shook, though the night air was far warmer than usual for the late autumn; every muscle in his body was drawn taught, his hands clamped in white-knuckle fists at his side; and his adam’s apple bobbed dangerously frequently, as if his salivary glands were in overdrive.
This, Kei knew. This, he was intimately familiar with, having descended down the same dark path many, many times. He could help with this. It wasn’t comfort, not really, not in the sense of comfort Kei thought Kuroo had needed earlier, alone in the dark where he needed reassuring words and empathetic musings. This was more basic, more instinctual. Fight or flight.
“Kuroo,” Kei said, keeping his voice level and low. “Are you having a panic attack?”

Summary
As he stared down at the little form nestled in his arms, Kei finally let himself relax. His daughter was kind of gross. She was often sticky and smelly and oozed many, many different liquids from varying parts of her body, and she was everything Kei had been certain he didn’t want. He liked structure, personal space, quiet - everything he had given up the moment he’d said, “Fine. Give her to me.”
It had been harder than he’d expected; he never expected being a parent to be easy, but his mom made it look effortless. It wasn’t until he’d brought home this tiny, screaming baby and he’d looked completely lost that she’d told him how hard it had been and how much harder it would be for him, balancing school and volleyball and an infant.
Kei hadn’t cried in years; after finding Akiteru’s secret, he’d sobbed his little, grade-schooler heart out, but he then swore he wouldn’t cry over anything so pathetic again. But when he’d finally gotten Suzume to sleep for the first time after she’d cried and cried for what felt like eternity, he wept - terrified, awed, in love tears - and he knew that the sticky, smelly, far too oozey little mess he’d brought home was everything he could ever want.

Summary
“I thought you were dead.”
A small laugh bubbled from Ryousuke’s lips. “What?”
Youichi sighed, a small battle waging inside him as he settled in the armchair nearest the sofa. He wanted to fret, to push, to inquire as to why one of the only people fully at home in his apartment was curled up in the corner of his couch, his knee pressed firmly to his chest and his hands still trembling slightly. But he could also see the firm set in his partner’s jaw, the way his tired eyes bore more of a shield than they’d worn around Youichi in years, and he knew that none of what he wanted mattered now; what Ryousuke needed mattered, and at the moment, that was some normalcy, not an inquisition. “Sawamura is a fucking moron."

Summary
His nervousness- his fear- of Ryousuke had changed over the last year and a half, as the original, scathing insults had morphed into a partnership and that partnership into a friendship. No longer did he hesitate to speak his mind, afraid of the tongue-lashing he would receive from the upperclassman; if Ryou-san was wrong, he’d be damned if he let him push forward.
No, the nervousness now was different, softer. It was butterflies when his teammate’s plastic smile morphed into something warm, something real. It was erratic heartbeats when their shoulders brushed on their way back from the practice field. It was breath-hitching, mind-numbing, unabashed elation when Ryousuke sought him- only him- out to share a joke, a triumph, or a frustrating day, and it was lung-crushing anxiety every time he fought to suppress the guaranteed redness in his cheeks when Miyuki’s sarcastic comments made their way to Ryousuke’s ears.
The nervousness now felt a lot like love.

Summary
In the middle of some quest or another, Merlin, Arthur and the knights find themselves stuck in the middle of a shrine being told that, if they wish to proceed unharmed, they need only speak their true names and titles. Straight-forward enough, right?
Wrong. Merlin really hates the Old Religion sometimes.

Summary
"“Emrys,” said Gaius, raising the Eyebrow of Disappointment and flicking his gaze to where Merlin stood behind Arthur’s chair. “That is who you wish to have as your court sorcerer.”
Arthur nodded gravely, every eye in the council meeting upon him. “Camelot is dangerously close to division even now that sorcery is legal. We need someone who will unite us all, and I cannot settle for less. I’ll send riders out at first light chasing rumours and follow up any promising leads we have myself.”
He looked so beautiful when he said it, every inch the king, with the sunlight through the windows turning him gold. His voice had taken on that richness that sometimes infused Arthur’s words – that for the good of the kingdom voice, that let it be so voice, the voice that Merlin had come to understand meant another brick laid on the road to Albion.
Unfortunately, that voice had been co-opted for a fucking farce."
Or - In which magic is legal and Merlin is still lying for reasons that are absolutely, totally 100% valid and have nothing to do with his love for Arthur
