Megumi watched Yuuji in the easy warmth in his expression, the steady way he carried himself, the lightness he still somehow had, even after everything. The broadness of his shoulders, the way his clothes clung to strong arms, the way his hair had grown slightly longer, softer. He moved with the same effortless strength, like his body barely registered the weight of the world on his shoulders. Even now, bruises still faintly lined his skin, but he wore them like they didn’t matter. Megumi’s chest ached.

Summary
One of his cybernetic limbs fires and a yelp rings out. Mortimer’s gaze trails over to see Morty’s Rick, about fifty or so feet back, looking nervous. A laser burn has been painted in the wall next to him, as are two others nearby. Clearly not his first attempt to get closer.
Emergency protocols are still working then.
…Wait.
Mortimer double takes. His emergency protocol is one of the few untouched parts he has left. A quick diagnosis report, albeit a tad slower than normal, reveals that it hasn’t been tampered with or has any known glitches. It’s doing its job: protecting him from threats like Rick C-137 while his body is severely injured and unable to protect itself.
Which begs the question for why Morty C-137 is right next to him, completely untouched and unthreatened.
(If Evil Morty ever takes a genuinely bad hit, he has backup protocols to protect him while he’s down, keeping threats away while he recovers. For some reason, said protocols do not perceive Morty C-137 as a threat.)

Summary
It’s pathetic, downright humiliating even, how he didn't know of Itadori’s existence one day, and a few months later, Megumi is fighting for his life over who knows what. This is the kind of thing that usually doesn't bother him—not that he would know, with the overwhelming lack of romantic attraction he has felt in his life. He could point at an attractive person and admit as much, but Megumi never found himself wanting someone so much to the point where it made him want to put his head through the nearest patch of drywall.
Well, not until an idiot with pink hair ate a finger to save him.
It’s half the reason he is losing his mind right now because Megumi is not the jealous type. With nothing but a trail of losses in his rearview, Megumi has taught himself to not be possessive and needy—he wasn't a child. And now, he feels his skin crawling at the sight of Itadori’s smile directed at someone else.
Someone who isn’t Megumi.

Gojo is silent, standing above him in Yuji’s pitch-black room. Why does he look so sad?

“Because I wanted that! I wanted someone to sit with me after a long day instead of telling me loneliness builds character. I wanted the guy who told me to ‘be a kid’ instead of giving me an exorcism for my 8th birthday! Why do you get to have that, why does Yuta?” He’s yelling by the end, but suddenly, it all fizzles out as the reality sinks in…
“If Satoru Gojo has truly changed that means he was always capable of change… I just wasn’t worth changing for.“ It’s almost a whisper when he says it, like he’s telling a secret he was meant to keep.

Some remnant of their vessel, like the last spasms of a dying insect, wished desperately to hold the child in her arms. Kaori had so deeply wanted children, a family.

It’s not aimed at him with the intention to hurt, and Satoru has made peace with it in his own ways. Honestly, he doesn’t know how much Megumi even remembered about Suguru—he was just so little when Satoru was breaking down under the weight of his world crumbling. He can’t say he did a good job hiding it from the kid, being seventeen himself and the world being so volatile. Megumi has always been far too wise for his age, and so was Tsumiki, and it was easier to forget his regrets when he had two little munchkins to feed and keep entertained.
Satoru is grateful for what he has now—this moody rascal is truly his blessing.
