Wilbur remembers the flare he pressed into Tommy’s hands so long ago, his promise of wherever you are, light it up and I’ll find you. No matter what. He remembers the forbidden tug of hope as he saw the billowing cloud of blue, blue, blue painting the sky above the undercity. Tommy’s eyes used to be blue like that. Blue and wide and innocent. Now they’re the same dangerous purple as Shimmer, shadowed by years of things he didn’t deserve to go through, things Wilbur doesn’t even know the extent of, and Wilbur? Wilbur is no big brother, is no hero here. He is a failure.
“I’m sorry, Tommy,” he whispers. “I’m so fucking sorry. I should have been a better brother.”

They drive home, not in silence because Dream decided now was the perfect time to belt along Tommy’s favourite songs.
Dream sings with a crack in his voice, and Tommy’s eyes crinkle with tears at the waterline, and it’s not at all like the feeling of the breaking nights before.
There’s a grin on his tongue and warmth in Dream’s eyes, and it’s both nothing he hasn’t felt before and something entirely new.
or, when Dream finally gives Tommy everything he's ever wanted, a small glance with eyes filled with love and raw adoration, things take a turn for the worst.

Tommy cleared his throat and grabbed Michael from Ghostboo’s arms, "Hey, don't even worry your silly little ghost head about it. I'll teach big M here all about how to work the system, he's going to know so many swear words by the time you get back," he gloated, probably making Ghostboo regret his decision with every new word to come from his grinning mouth.
Ghostboo only shook his head lightly, "Good luck with that, Tubbo’s been trying to get Michael to curse since we got him. Hasn't cracked yet," the spector chuckled.
Now that sounded like a challenge Tommy was more than willing to take up. "Trust me, he will," he assured the dead teen with grave certainty.
Ghostboo still looked a little hesitant, like he might be considering snatching Michael back and never trusting Tommy with his son ever again.

“So,” the other man spoke up, “Eight confirmed kills. That’s a hefty number for a seventeen year old.”
He spoke so casually, as if he was talking about the weather, or a sports game.“So do you not believe me?”
“Well, we wouldn’t be in this room if they didn’t,” the detective replied smoothly.
“I don’t care about what the police department or whatever thinks. I’m asking if you think I’m innocent,” Tommy urged.
There was a moment where the man thought of a reply, and then he said, “Looking at you now, I do not think you did it.”

Tommy’s eyes snapped open with a sharp inhale. Pins and needles spread like infectious static, buzzing and pricking beneath his skin.
Slowly, feeling started to come back to him, but as it did, so too came a sense of wrongness.
His body felt different. He didn't feel like himself anymore, why the fuck didn't he feel like himself- what did Exdei do to him? He looked down at his hands and found little sand coloured paws in their place.

“That's alright, I already know what I want,” he said with a flippant wave of his hand.
Exdei’s head did a quick rotation, “In exchange for removing the sheep’s infinite lives, I want you to be the one to strip it of its last. I want to watch you plunge a sword into its heart and drain the blood from its feeble broken body.”
AKA- What would have happened if Tommy and XD actually made a deal to bring Friend to the afterlife with Ghostbur, except it gets really fluffy after the first 1.6k words. Trust.

This relationship with Wilbur, the way Tommy’s heart jumps when he walks in– definitely not healthy. But Tommy’s not very well-versed in healthy relationships. He knows what they should be, yes– a take and a give, but Tommy is a taker and he’s used to that. A burden for those who can’t handle it.
(or, my take on the "Dark SBI" trend i've seen going around, except.... well. SBI aren't really the smooth manipulators they want to be. Tommy, on the other hand-)

The storm is beating down on the small island. Rain and lightning striking the land harshly and flooding the cobble steps, making the moss growing around it slippery.
The blond teenager struggles to haul the monster of a man up the wet steps, stumbling and grunting in annoyance as the deadweight man he grips under the arms stays passively unconscious.
They crash through the threshold of the weak oak wood door together, the younger man falling backward through it and being partially crushed by the older. He slides himself out from under the prone body and gets to his feet, hands on his knees as he pants.
