Part of her wonders if she should thank him—if she could—but when she pulls away from her father and tries to make sense of the tangled words brewing in the back of her throat, Zuko is busy securing the balloon, dragging it off to the side and neatly folding the fabric back into the basket. The deep furrow of his brow and the tense set of his jaw gives her pause. His eyes are stormy and conflicted, so Katara bites her tongue, spins on her heel, and remembers a prince clad in black and red who spits fire and only knows how to take.
Against all odds, in the moments between now and the end, Katara falls for Zuko.

The death of Queen consort Aemma Targaryen has profound and far reaching consequences for the Realm. In the wake of the late Queen's death, King Viserys I declares their only child, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, as heir.
Rhaenyra faces opposition from the Seven and those who wish to preserve the rights of male progeny. Burdened with grief and a growing rebellious nature, the Realm's Delight must differentiate between friend and foe if she wishes to reach the age of majority. Taking place from 104 AC to 111 AC.
A re-imagining of the HotD + Fire and Blood canon that begins in Rhaenyra's childhood and continues throughout her adulthood. A fix it, break it, and live with it.
Previously known as: "long live rhaenyra the cruel" (now the series name) renamed as "the realm's delight." I am keeping the current tags but realized that for the rhaesaria and rhaewin bits, there is not a ton of shipping material as it focuses on Rhaenyra's childhood and her stepping into her role as heir. Next published works will be more mindful.
