As Marinette and Adrien prepare to transform into the heroes Ladybug and Chat Noir and stop this Akumatized actor, they are stopped by their kwamis, who feel a connection to the universe that the Phantom has selected. A universe where Hawkmoth has already been defeated. It's risky, but viewing this universe may finally reveal the identity of their masked nemesis. Ultimately, Marinette and Adrien decide to play this out and see what they can learn. After all, it's not like the viewing is going to focus on them and reveal their identities to the entire school...right?

Marinette Dupain-Cheng, 5 years later and now 23, living her life peacefully, starts to receive weird dreams marking a new age with the butterfly miraculous-- Chrysalis. Juggling learning about her new budding powers, civil unrest with the Parisians, Chrysalis, and a shattered friendship with Chat Noir (who seems to be playing by his own rules), she is cracking under the pressure.
Adrien Agreste, 23, and jaded with the world, is forced to return to Paris with the new threat of Chrysalis, all while trying to discover the secrets of his father, his newfound ability to see the past, settling scores with Ladybug, who is eager to stop him from his methods, and making him face the music of his past and future.
Together and alone at the same time, Ladybug and Chat Noir are forced back together for one last dance.
