Summary
It wasn't supposed to go down the way it did. Christ, it wasn't ever supposed to go down at all, if Stiles was being completely honest. Having an entire pack at his back who wouldn't hesitate to shred someone should they even attempt to make a move against him had lulled Stiles into a false sense of security. He got to be too comfortable, too self-assured in his own survival. Overconfidence led to cockiness, led to taking too many unnecessary risks, led to Stiles finding himself in a position he never legitimately thought he'd be in.
Stiles was only ever supposed to be the boy who ran with wolves, not the boy who became one.
Or: When Stiles is fatally injured while on a mission with the pack, Scott makes the choice to turn him rather than letting him die. Stiles is an exceptional wolf, but struggles with control on the full moon, unable to find his anchor.
All of that could change when Derek returns from visiting Cora in South America.

Summary
The world was spinning as Stiles fell down the hill. Rocks and bumps leaving nasty bruises all over his body. It seemed to go on forever.
He landed on his back in a way you couldn't exactly call graceful. All the air was knocked out of his lungs as he wheezed and rocked back and forth a few times.
"Fuck!" He groaned.
"Stiles!" A deep voice came from seemingly everywhere at once, vibrating through Stiles. The boy immediately jumped up and looked around. Trying to find the source of the mysterious voice.
He didn't see anyone, he did however see a bunch of leaves being rustles by the wind, revealing a small opening into the mountain wall. Stiles wouldn't be Stiles if he wasn't going to investigate this new found mystery opening.
He walked towards it, carefully looking everywhere to make sure there weren't any wild animals around, or a bunch of necromancers. He definitely didn't want a repeat of last time.
Nobody was around so Stiles climbed through the small opening, barely fitting through.
After a couple of feet he fell down and found himself in a dark circle shaped room. In the middle was a pedestal. On the pedestal was a book. A sound came from it.
A heartbeat.

Stiles barely had time to smash the brakes before running Derek over as he swung into his driveway to find him standing there.
“Dude!” Stiles said clambering out of the jeep, “Didn’t your wolfy senses tingle and tell you to get out of the way?” Derek looked tense, like his hackles were raised (Ha. Dog jokes.) He cocked his head and sniffed the air, then he visibly relaxed and fixed Stiles with a soft stare. “You okay there Sourwolf?”
“What’s my name?” Stiles thought Derek was pulling his leg.
“Um, Derek?” Stiles replied confused.
“My name is Derek?”
“Yeah, Derek Hale. Don’t you remember?”
“No.”
