Matt opened his mouth to reply, but he was cut off by the sound of a gunshot. He straightened, looking towards the doors. He strained his hearing, trying to listen for an out-of-place heartbeat, even a pained breath, but to no avail. He furrowed his eyebrows, before moving one of his hands up to his mask.
“Look, I’d love to continue this conversation, but it can wait until another time.” He slipped his hand to the bottom of the helmet, hand hovering over the button.
“Don’t you fucking dare, Red. If I come over and find you—“

So they're fighting some Hydra grunt with a grudge and access to Hydra mad-science. Normal day really except no one's quite sure what the gun does, since it doesn't seem to be having a consistent effect. See how Thor is now a baby while Clint's still the same wise-cracking a-hole, if maybe a bit younger than he was this morning.
Then the grunt scores a hit on Daredevil, there to help out, and now Clint has a whole host of other problems. Namely the screaming, recently blinded nine year old.
It's probably going to be a long day.

It all started with Tony Stark seeking him out in Hell’s Kitchen.
Stark had said they needed his help. Nobody knew Hell’s Kitchen like him and they had reason to believe that Hydra had set up shop there.
Matt had been reluctant, Hydra was dangerous and he wasn’t sure he wanted to be on their radar but they were operating out of his city. That pissed him off.
So he agreed to help them and in return, the Avengers wouldn’t make him sign the Accords or question his methods.
Looking back, he should have let them deal with it alone.

Summary
When what should have been a straight forward mission in Hell's Kitchen goes pear shaped due to lack of communication, teaching his teammates sign language seems like a logical step to Clint. Communication when their comms are down - great plan! And including the local vigilante, who's been working closely with them on this, is a real no-brainer.
Until it turns out said vigilante is an asshole that thinks sign language is beneath him, judging by the way he's stubbornly refusing to learn it.
(Conversely - Matt's trying, he really is but damn it, those two signs are exactly the same... what do you mean they mean completely different things?!)
