Osamu’s grip tightens on the gun. Chuuya’s jaw drops from beside him, and Osamu would’ve laughed at how ridiculous the other looks had it not been a shock to him as well.
“Haaah!?” Chuuya snaps, eyes narrowing at the boy below Osamu. Said boy flinches, curling into himself slightly. “We’re 200 fucking years into the future?” He growls.
Osamu sighs at Chuuya’s yapping, “That’s what he said, isn’t it?”

He should’ve known this was coming. Of course Akutagawa would give him chocolate. Of course he’d find the one sweet thing hidden in this alcohol-saturated wasteland of a kitchen.
The kid popped up from behind the table like a dog.
Then disappeared again.
Then popped up on the other side.
Chuuya blinked. “How the hell…?”
The boy darted around the couch and sprinted across the rug, silent as a whisper, limbs flailing in sheer joy.

Chapter 1 description:
Cautiously, whilst looking around for some kind of hidden camera or giggling maniac lurking around in the dark area— Though he sighed when he couldn’t really see anything either way due to the only lighting being from a street light far away from the alley. He knelt down, gently lifted up the trench coat, and peeked beneath.
“What the...” Chuuya mumbled, almost jumping back slightly.
The small figure beneath the coat shuffled back, taken off guard, seeming afraid.

Summary
It’s essentially a marriage, Chuuya knows. A mating bond is for life, until death do they part; even then the one left behind will be haunted by whispers of another soul through their bond. Coupled with the fact he’s doing it with Dazai, who exudes the futility of life with each breath he takes, it’s the same as asking Chuuya to be tormented constantly when Dazai inevitably leaves him, leaves this world.
Wherein a mating bond is complicated, and feelings even more so.

The word caught in Chuuya’s throat, time seeming to freeze. In the moment he let his guard down and raised his gaze, he had already braced himself for what was to come—to see the lively, deep eyes, glowing at him for a fleeting moment before turning into their lifeless, stone version of them.
But that didn’t happen.
With Dazai’s hand still on his chin, Chuuya saw something of incomparable beauty, something he would never be able to liken to anything else for the rest of his life. Milky-white irises, practically blending into the whites of his eyes, gazed at him softly, and the smile playing on Dazai’s lips seemed almost visible in his pale pupils.
“You—You’re blind,” Chuuya choked out. It probably wasn’t the most appropriate thing to say, but he couldn’t muster anything else. Dazai stood here before him, looking him straight in the eyes, alive. It was something Chuuya had never expected to experience again in his lifetime.
