“Viktor?”
His heart jumps. Silco’s voice is muffled, sleep-thick, but oh so achingly familiar. He had not realised until now just how much he missed it.
“You do realise it is 2 o’clock in the morning?”
He tries to speak but no words come out. The guilt, perhaps, has stolen them.
“Has something happened?”
“Papa,” he finally whispers. “Papa. Papa.” And then all of a sudden he is bawling his eyes out, horrible, heaving gasps and sobs torn from his throat, wracking his thin frame, and distantly he is embarrassed, but he cannot seem to make himself stop.
Worn down by the crushing weight of (not actually) unrequited love, workplace disputes, past trauma, and the existential dread that comes with being an overachiever in your twenties, Viktor finally breaks. Papa Silco comes to pick up the pieces.
Returning to his childhood home in Zaun for a long-overdue rest, Viktor must reckon with his past, his future, and the terrifying prospect of allowing himself to be loved and cared for.

Summary
Viktor is working late into the night at usual, before a stranger steps into the lab. Viktor doesn't understand what’s happening until it’s far too late to stop it. What follows is a blur of pain and terror.
Soon after, forged documents surface bearing Viktor's handwriting, detailing weaponized applications of their hextech research. The documents are sophisticated fakes, but they're enough for the Council to question Viktor's loyalty and integrity.

Summary
“Have you come to taunt me?” Viktor asks. His voice is rough, thick from crying and disuse. He looks terrible, really, with hollow cheeks and sunken, bloodshot eyes. The shadows carve cruelly into his face, making him fragile. For the first time since Silco has known him, Viktor looks like he might break. Something inside Silco shatters at seeing his eldest so utterly defeated. “Because you can save your breath. I already know.” He doesn’t look at Silco, doesn’t acknowledge his presence in any other way than the words floating between them, in the air that’s so much cleaner than the toxic fumes they both grew up in.
Or: After Sky's death, Silco finds Viktor.
