Summary
When she opened her eyes, Sumire didn’t stand in her mirror. No, instead there stood the heaped ruins of the patchwork quilt she so desperately wove of the people she loved, their features snipped from a magazine and plastered over her like a second skin: Kasumi’s hair, Joker’s gloves, Kasumi’s confidence, Joker’s rebellion, their beauty stitched together into the Frankenstein’s monster now staring back at her.
The creature once known as Sumire.
Or: Sumire finally awakens. -

Summary
Akira had prepared himself for whatever ridiculous line Goro was prepared to recite. Perhaps another declaration of hatred? A cold remark on Akira’s sentimentality? Or, maybe Goro would go for the throat and announce he’s dead for all the world to hear.
Akira wasn’t prepared for the calm, simple, “hey,” Goro offered in return. The words were jarring, coming from the body of the man Akira once believed hated him.
So they were really doing this. No caricatures, no deceit, no pretending to be their old selves.
Just…them, alone together.
Akira and Goro reenact one the worst days of their lives. -

Summary
This was their happy ending, wasn’t it? They’d defeated their last God and had their last hurrah. They were the heroes of their story, and they’d won. They’d changed the world.
Strange how it didn’t feel like much of a victory.

Summary
The doors burst open with the force of a tidal wave.
“Sorry we’re late!” Akira announced as he stepped through the doorway dramatically, dressed casually in his (sleeveless!) gray top, looking not all that sorry with a bright grin on his face. Was his hair messier than usual? And were his lips redder?
Makoto glared with the force of Yaldabaoth himself, finally convincing Akira to give a sheepish shrug as he swiftly moved to take his place at the head of the table, Loki trailing languidly behind him.
“Well, out with it. What’s your excuse this time?”
“A Cerberus found its way into a cat cafe,” he answered gravely, expression perfectly serious as he folded his hands and met Makoto’s glare with ease, “had to save the poor things from their torment.”
Makoto blinked.
Akira blinked back.
Loki laughed somewhere behind them.

Summary
In front of them stood a grand stage, now glowing with light, the neon backdrop jarring where it burst upward like rays of sun. The white lights centered on two chairs, both positioned to face them at an angle rather than one another.
And sitting there, across from a puppet of a reporter, was a woman with caramel hair and unmistakable crimson eyes.
Goro was the spitting image of his mother.

Summary
“How do you two know each other?” Yoshizawa asked politely, fiddling with the edge of her cup like she wasn’t sure what to do with herself.
“Well,” Amamiya swooped in like a hawk, “to be perfectly honest, it was love at first sight.”
Both Goro and Yoshizawa choked simultaneously.

Summary
Akechi turned to him, his smile as sharp as a razor. “Do tell me what the fuck is going on.”
“Um,” Sumire started, a little hesitant as she glanced to Akira who quickly nodded his head in support, “well, I don’t know much about it myself, I’ve been too busy with gymnastics to help much, but I do know that Akira-Senpai and the other Phantom Thieves have had to destroy a few more false Gods since you last joined…”
Akechi turned his murderous stare back to Akira. “How many of these so-called Gods have you killed since my ‘death’?”
Akira winced, clearing his throat so the words came out less hesitant than they felt, “...four.”
“What the fuck.”

Summary
New Years was mostly an excuse to get drunk, which meant it wasn’t much different than any other holiday. Not that he didn’t drink on other days, but it was nice to have excuses when he did decide he was better off blacking out than thinking too hard.
He was only six shots in when he started to see the dead again.
Or: years after their breakup and Goro's death, Ren meets a ghost at a bar. -

Summary
Akira couldn’t feel his hands anymore, a blessing, probably, considering his frostbitten toes ached with every step he took. He didn’t try to warm himself anymore, entirely focused on the figure marching forward ahead of him, of their escape just a little ways ahead.
How was Akechi still moving? How was he moving even faster? Every step Akira took sent freezing snow into his boots, seeping into his legs and forcing him to slow as they crystallized. The wind lashed them like a whip, each hit beating them back little by little.
Akira only fell behind by a step at first.
Or: Years after the Phantom Thieves destroyed their last god, Akira and Goro are invited to a remote cabin for Haru's yearly holiday get-together. Trapped and isolated by an unexpected snowstorm, they're forced to face the many issues that come with repeatedly dying and coming back to life. -

“Gorooooooooo!” Futaba yelled from the other side of the bathroom door, knocking furiously, “come on! We’re gonna be late!”
“Coming!” he yelled back, doing one more check of himself in the mirror. It wasn’t his first Halloween (obviously, he was already nine years old!) but it’d be his first Halloween with all of them together, and he was practically shaking with excitement.
Or: In a world where they met far sooner, Goro reminisces on his first Halloween with the Phantom Thieves.Series

Summary
“Let’s go camping!”
He waited a beat. Then two. Her expression didn’t change. “Don’t tell me you’re serious.”
“Of course I am!” She threw open the door, running back around the car towards the trunk.
“Futaba,” Goro scoffed, “you do realize we can’t just go camping without camping equipment, right?”
“Which is why I came prepared!” She lifted the drunk with a dramatic ‘voila!’ and, low and behold, there were a few bags he definitely didn’t remember packing, much less owning in the first place.

Summary
Goro moved mechanically, chest aching with apprehension as he sat down on the floor in front of her, back straight and muscles tensed as he took off his shirt. Futaba didn’t say anything but he knew the moment his mark was visible by the way her breath hitched.
It didn’t take an expert to realize Goro’s mark was...unusual. Hell you didn’t even need to be educated to realize that something about it was simply wrong. It looked archaic, the kind of symbol you’d see and immediately assume belonged to a cult. It looked sick.
And it was his soulmark.

Summary
“I know who you are,” she said without preamble.
He glanced back at her, narrowing his eyes as he took in her words. Which identity she was referring to wasn’t hard to guess, but he wasn’t about to give her ammunition she didn’t have. “Do tell.”
“You’re my brother,” was loaded as hell, and for a moment he couldn’t breathe before she added, “my half-brother anyway. On our unfortunate sperm donor’s side.”
The mounting dread in his chest spilled over.
“Oh.”
She looked almost as uncomfortable as he felt. “Yeah.”
Silence.
