Or: Tyler is a janitor at the local school, Josh works at the only grocery store in town, and they have to navigate life in the middle of nowhere while the world seems to crumble around them due to the murder of a school staff member.

Summary
This won't fix anything; Josh was naïve to believe anything good could come out of this situation. The real question here is what will this destroy? It's basic physics: for every action there's an equal and opposite reaction. Josh is tearing down the façade Tyler has been putting on for what seems to be years, and the aftermath is sure to be disastrous. But he's not worried about what he should be; he's only worried about himself, about his relationship with Tyler.
This is certainly a mistake, on both parts.
