Summary
It was a normal Thursday. A typical weeknight in October in Hawkins, Indiana 1983. That was what stayed with Wayne as the hours wore on and Eddie didn't come tearing through, apologizing that he lost track of time again and he was sorry to have gotten everyone worked up, but he was fine, really.
Wayne knew the imagined scenario was too good to be true. Eddie wasn't going to come through to door. The pocket knife abandoned in the middle of the kitchen floor and the bullet holes in the walls of the living room told him that.
His nephew hated guns. To have gotten the M439 out of the gun safe and fire it meant this wasn't just the teenage rebellion Hopper wanted to believe it was.
Something had happened. Something that frightened Eddie enough to make him use the very weapons that had terrified him since he was that little boy Wayne had taken hunting years ago.

Steve doesn't know what to do when his parents turn up in Hawkins after a neighbor snitched about the Camaro in their driveway and the unfamiliar blonde living there. Thank God Billy knows how to lie, or he'd be murdered by his father for sure. Problem is... Billy lies too well, and Arthur Harrington buys them all.

It was a random Saturday when Eddie stopped to stare at the guitar yet again, and Wayne stopped beside him, glancing up at the pale instrument in the window. “I know, Uncle Wayne. I just… I know we can’t get it. I just want one so badly.” Eddie’s reflection stared back at him from the glass, his eyes too dark in the dim light.
“You want one, huh?” Wayne rubbed a big hand along his jaw, letting out an exaggerated sigh. “I’ll tell you what - if you really want one, and you’re sure about it, I’ll get you one.”
“REALLY!?!” Eddie’s eyes widened as he spun to look at his uncle.
“Yeah, but one one condition. And it won’t be up for debate.” Wayne crouched so they were eye level with one another. “You can have a guitar to play whenever you’re visiting me, but you have to let me teach you how to play the fiddle too.”
