Summary
B. Zuka is a celebrated Captain in Blackrock's army. At 30 years of age, he's got everything going for him: a number of notable feats under his belt, countless successful missions, a devoted squad, and a best friend/second-in-command who he can trust with his life. The discovery of some strange crystals in the depths of Blackrock's mountains four years ago has caused some sweeping changes, but really, it's not his job to ask questions--he's here to blow things up, and make it look easy.
But when Zuka's exploits catch the eye of a certain Deity, one who convinces him that curiosity and novelty are always worth pursuing, Zuka starts realizing that not everything in his beloved home is as it seems... or should be.
(Perhaps curiosity isn't all that it's cracked up to be.)

It’s an itch he’s used to, shooting awake from a nightmare only to leave whatever residence he’s staying in and spend an hour forcing his nerves into the manicured ice of a skating rink. Tonight he thinks he will race himself. To hell with figure skating and theatrics and artistry. Seven is an athlete, Seven is a rollerblader, and the roar of ice blades under speeds he produces is the only balm to his wounds.
When he enters the stadium, however, he discovers he is not alone.
Or: Seven aims to burn his nerves away through speed skating. Instead, he discovers a familiar someone already on the ice.
