Rayla still smelled like Callum.
It had been an hour since they crossed into Xadia. It had been an hour since she donned his scarf and tricked Sol Regum into letting him pass through because she would not leave this human behind.
Now every time she turned her head to check their surroundings, there was a slight musky scent that lingered on her neck.
It felt out of place amid the Xadian woods that she knew the fragrance of so deeply. It smelled human. She guessed that meant she still smelled human too.
Specifically, she smelled like Callum, a thought that changed her opinion of the scent. She avoided looking at him as she tried to fight the blush creeping up her face.
