The apartment was dark. Only the occasional reflected light from the traffic outside intruded, making racing streaks across the patterned paper and memories that littered the wall. It didn’t need to be dark. He could have been sitting there with a light on, contemplating how in hell he had ended up in this situation, but that would run the electric bill up and provide a comfort the imp didn’t feel like he deserved at the moment. So instead, Blitzø was sitting in his dark apartment, head in his hands, going over how fucked up his evening had gotten. He had double checked his calendars, his reminders, all of his horse sticky notes. Nowhere had there been a reminder of any important events, no anniversaries. Why in heaven had Stolas snapped at him like that?

The pain rang through his brain like a clarion call. He gasped and went perfectly still, staring down at his hands, at the blood black as motor oil spilling out of him, dripping onto the cutting board and gathering in a shimmering pool. The pain spread through his body like a splash of ink in a glass of water, stark at first but diffusing quickly, disappearing but leaving every drop changed.
And in his head, blessed, ringing silence.
No thoughts, no words, just the fading memory of pain as bright and sharp as a lightning strike, already gone by the time the rumble of thunder came rolling through the air.

There in the grey rump sat inked two letters that he thought he’d never see again when he wrote them twenty-five years ago: S +B.
He figured no one had bought it yet after all these years because it got placed on top of such a high shelf. Stolas glanced around the crowded shop, looking for a staff member to help him. There was no other recourse; he had to buy the rocking hellhorse.

After everything they've been through, Stolas is a bit thrown by how gentle Blitzø is with him, and just how much he's always touching him. It's certainly not a bad thing, but it's something the former prince has to get used to, allow himself to accept, and ultimately recognize it's a bit more telling about Blitzø than he first realized.
