Alfred finds himself left with a little boy to care for. Not just any boy, but a Wayne, destined for greatness like his parents. He does his best to raise him, and it hurts his heart - really it does - but sometimes that means discipline.
Bruce knows he’s not good. Well aware that he deserved what Alfred gave him when he was a child. But now that he has children of his own, Bruce can’t fathom disciplining them like he was.That doesn’t mean Alfred was wrong to inflict those punishments on Bruce. Bruce deserved it. Just not his kids.

The sun peeks through the gaps in the weaving of the half-closed curtains, illuminating Damian from behind: enough to darken his features, but not enough to obscure them, and it highlights the cowlick springing from Damian’s head as the wax he probably spread through his hair this morning loses its hold. His delicate face is scrunched up in concentration, sharp, dark eyebrows furrowed and mouth pouted; his posture is hunched, shoulders slightly pulled up, almost as if he wishes to hide his newest project from the world.
Bruce takes the tiny notebook out of the inner pocket of his jacket before he realizes what he’s doing. He flips over to an empty page, clicks the pen twice, and starts sketching.Or,

Case in point, the man was currently slumped against the governor of somewhere or other, laughing uproariously, spilling champagne onto his own suit. Ollie frowned, lowering his glass. Dick doesn’t at all lose his pout, brow furrowing. Bruce reaches over to tug at his cape only for Dick’s hand to immediately dart out and bat him away. He shifts from Bruce’s side, nearly rolling away. Bruce twists as he loses sight of him. Dick’s escape ends in him collapsed into his pillows; cape pulled over his head. “Hmm.”
Bruce looks to Alfred after a moment, to which Alfred sends him a dry look. “Couldn’t barter the cape?”
Alfred’s eyes narrow as if this is entirely Bruce’s influence.

This is it. This is all.
It’s not that he doesn’t want to have a relationship with Jason, it’s just that it’s too complicated. He doesn’t know how to deal with being an adult on top of being Nightwing. He can’t deal with Jason, with what Jason represents, on top of it.
Except, when a small injury doesn’t heal up the way it’s supposed to, he ends up being the one who needs saving and he’s finally forced to face the new Robin.

This is especially prevalent when Dick gets sick with the flu and has to take care of himself. While Dick wallows alone in bed, he gets a call from Bruce and expects to get scolded for not caring for himself. Fortunately for Dick, the call does not go how he expects at all.

Summary
Heaven is an Italian hospital.
At least, that's what she thinks when some unseen force peels her eyelids apart, forcing her to take in the sounds of beeping machinery, bright white lights, people whispering and shouting in animated Italian. She's in a bed that's far too soft for her liking, and the frequency of the beeps speeds up unbearably as her heart rate rises. A nurse walks in, his lips pressed into a thin, unforgiving line. There's a doctor who follows him in, and she's speaking loudly enough that Ilsa can catch a few phrases, but not many. Her Italian is not quite as good as her mastery of other languages, but she thinks she hears "no record of her anywhere" and "missed everything important" and she realizes with a touch of horror that heaven is not an Italian hospital and she can't speak on it anyway because she most certainly isn't in heaven and is somehow not in hell either.
