Danny knew he had an older brother at some point, he's seen the pictures on the wall in the hall, but he never knew what happened to him. He asked his parents before and all that got him was upset parents and them getting more vicious in their next ghost fights.
Jazz says his name was Flynn and he went missing when Danny was 2, which is why he doesn't remember him, and that he went missing from their parent's lab after going down to fix his watch he made with Jack. Their parents tried for years to find the watch's tracker so they could find him, but it never showed up anywhere they traveled before stopping in Amity Park.
It's not until Danny and his friends are exploring the ghost zone to find some lost equipment that the Speeder pings something in a ghost lair. A large Gothic city with a dark cloud of smog shaped like a bat behind it.
