Sanchez gestured to the chair in front of her desk. “Please, have a seat. Would you care for some coffee?”
Underwood accepted the beverage offered with a small word of gratitude. She couldn’t quite dispel a sense of unease about this meeting.

Summary
Robby swears it hasn’t been any longer than ten minutes when he steps out of south fifteen and hears Perlah gasp, “What door did he come in from?”
The tone is startling enough. The ominous, non-specific him makes Robby want to flatten his back against the nearest wall.
It doesn’t take long to find the him she’s referring to. He’s not a patient that Robby has seen today. The man in dark pants and thick, brown boots looming between the psych rooms and the stairs sticks out like a sore thumb. Each and every head around the room seems to turn to him suddenly, cataloging his every move. He’s not very large; stocky, five foot eight at most- but the way with which he carries himself. The tension of his shoulders and the way he leers and looks around the room would make even Goliath falter.
It's been a while since Robby heard the story, but he’s pretty sure it’s going to take more than a stone to disarm this man and the chef’s knife in his right hand. There’s a splotch of blood on his shirt where his jacket isn’t zipped.
Robby has never wished so suddenly that there were less people around.

Summary
Dennis Whitaker’s life is in freefall.
Dennis' family disowned him for coming out and breaking off an engagement they'd spent years cultivating, his medical career was destroyed after being blackballed in the industry from his ex-family's foundation, and now he scrapes by as a barista, barely able to afford coffee, let alone his dreams.
Exhausted, broke, and invisible in a city that once promised him everything, Dennis stumbles through double shifts until a chance encounter changes his fate:
Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, a charming, wealthy celebrity in the medical industry, walks into Dennis’s coffee shop and sees past his exhaustion and desperation to the man beneath. What starts as flirtation quickly deepens when Robby offers Dennis warmth, kindness, and a way out, where both parties can get exactly what they want.
For Robby, a relationship where he knows exactly where both parties stand. For Dennis, a chance to live in the lap of luxury and have a chance at returning to the industry he loves. For both? They'll have to decide if this relationship is purely transactional, or if something deeper is bubbling under the surface.

Summary
Over the past few weeks, the ever-present nausea she has always carried has worsened into something tangible. The dizziness when she stood, even though she's made extra sure to stay hydrated. The gnawing in her stomach is mostly same-old, same-old, but she can feel how the cramps now threaten to migrate into her upper abdomen. Her old headaches have returned in full force. She really shouldn’t be so surprised when things finally come to a head.

Summary
It goes like this, they wake up, Dennis makes coffee. He sits at the kitchen table, knuckles bloody. Trinity's tired from years of running, the kin recognizes kin. He holds out a hand, she takes it. Maybe it all started in reverse, maybe all's been already written, do never worry.
"I'll kill him," she says, "Just ask for it and know that it's done."
Dennis cracks a smile.
"Thank you." He looks down. "Same goes for you."It goes like this, a friendship born out of pity, or unsurfaced similarities. A poor, poor boy, and an angry, angry girl. Shadows around, blood's aboard. This world will kill you sooner than it'll embrace you. Rosary is in the drawer and she never says a prayer.

I reanimate your bones
Cause I'm a true believer"Bookmarked by MoonFire1

Summary
“I don’t know what I want to do.” Dennis admits. He looks over at Robby, staring at the side of his face. They’ve been closer than this before, but being in the car together feels strangely intimate. “What would you do?”
“If it was me… I’d at least go for that dinner. But I’m not you. You need to do what’s best for you, Dennis.”
There it is again, his name from Robby’s mouth. It makes his attention linger, still staring at Robby’s face. Dennis is once again overwhelmed with the urge to just bury his face in Robby’s neck and pretend the world doesn’t exist, but that’s not the grown up thing to do. He squeezes his eyes shut for a second, rubs his temples with his fingertips as Robby continues, “Carry your patients with you as much or as little as you like. Find your balance. But remember that you’re human.”
Dennis opens his eyes to the countryside fading away and the city bleeding in. He knows Robby is right. That’s what he needs: balance.
In his last year of med school, Dennis learns to let go of the guilt that plagues him.
