Summary
The land of Gemeinplatz is a land filled with fantastical creatures, adventurers looking to slay them, and heroes looking to distinguish themselves from the adventurers. The most common of these heroes are those who come from Earth, who enjoy a most leisurely time with their cheat skills. It’s a perfect world, the utopia of those who wish to become overpowered and get their own power fantasy, where even the most everyman of the everyman can pull themselves by their bootstraps and become a hero.
To satisfy the needs of heroes who can’t find function like a normal human being (which most of them can’t), the lucrative Gemeinplatz slave trade crushes the dreams and ruins the lives of hundreds every day. These slaves endlessly labor, in the harems of so-called heroes, at the mansions of the landowning “heroes”, and as rare materials for various dubious magical spells.
In a world that looks down at them as demi-human, where the ruling class has no incentive to end this profitable trade, in which their oppressors are overpowered as all hell, what hope is there for the slaves?
What hope is there, is named John Brown. This time, he’ll finish what he started.

Summary
Zenos’s blackened eyes stare straight at his neck and the junction of his shoulder, where the tip of his scythe left a clean cut. He doesn’t blink, as if the expanse of skin entrances him. His panting grows louder and heavier with every ilm that he leans closer. The sound of his breath already stokes a strange heat in Yves’s gut, but the warmth of the air on his neck has him squirming.
Later, he’ll call it fear. Why else would his heart beat so loudly? Why else would he tremble in Zenos’s clawed grasp, so still, waiting for just one more moment?
Zenos acquires a taste for the Warrior of Light's aether in more ways than one.

A curious look shines in his unusually bright eyes, and as he reaches her, she has to fight the impulse to turn on the spot and break into a run. Something about him is thoroughly unsettling, no matter how charming he looks as he gives her a perfectly courteous bow.
"May I have this next dance?"
An absolutely valid question and the hairs on the back of her neck stand up as his voice washes over her. It's deep and full of promise, but in it swings a thoroughly unsettling cadence. There is no way for her to decline politely, though. Not with him asking in such a polite manner and her dance card being anything but full.

Ignis wasn’t ordinary. Ignis was the advisor to the Crown Prince. Ignis’s home was the Citadel, and Ignis had never had a person who loved him. Not until a voice called it unjust, cruel, callous. Not until he was pulled into strong arms and told that he, too, deserved all the blessings of the ordinary people.
And in that moment, Ignis was loved, and he loved back like an ordinary person.
But Ignis wasn’t ordinary, and neither was the man he fell in love with.
His love for a man above his stature, the King’s brother no less, was, in fact, quite extraordinary.

Summary
So what if you desperately wish for someone to see past the veneer of heroism you coat yourself with to match the pedestal people force you on time and time again? Surely that someone can not be him. Should not be him at any cost. The danger inherent in giving so much of you to the enemy, of entrusting truths to him even your closest confidants don't know, can invite only doom.
Then again, the line of people actually seeing you as clearly as he does is woefully empty.
