Summary
When Evan Buckley get´s to Los Angeles, he´s heartbroken with grief, kind of lost and has a lot of unanswered questions in his bagage.

“I just-” When the man looks back at him he has a look in his eyes that Buck can't quite read. “I need you to take care of yourself, ok?” He takes a few steps closer towards Buck and he feels how his heartbeat speeds up under his friend´s intense gaze. He stops just a step away from Buck where he's still leaning back on the counter, letting his eyes trail over his face before meeting Buck´s eyes again. “I'm kind of sick of watching you get hurt.” The whisper is raw between them and Buck can´t rip his gaze from the brown eyes staring into his.

Buck's eyes snapped back up to Bobby's face. Shit. He didn't know how long they'd been standing silently in the middle of the station kitchen, but it was definitely past the appropriate timeframe to answer a question as simple as are you alright.
Buck nodded, and the movement made his vision twirl around the edges. He didn't know how to explain that he was either going insane, or he had been thrown five years backwards in time, and his family didn't remember him the way he did them, and everything was wrong, and Eddie wasn't here. God, Bobby didn't even know who Eddie was.

He has been struggling over the past four months and learning that Bobby was the reason he has been denied throws him over the edge. He has no choice but to put in for a transfer. Only the 169 is far from the loving environment that is the 118. Buck is determined to better himself and his career. All he has to do is handle adjusting to the new firehouse and the rules. Only Captain Hall isn’t just keeping those rules to the firehouse. When he blackmails Buck into performing sexual acts on him, Buck is left with feeling like he has no choice but to do as he is told. Especially if he wants to keep being a firefighter. But when it all gets to be too much for him, the 118 will have to work harder than they ever have before to rescue one of their own from themselves. It’s the hardest rescue any of them will ever face.

Oh, Buck was fine. Buck was always fine. Get crushed by a fire truck? Some PT and he was standing again. Learn you had a brother you were born to save and still couldn't? Therapy and late-night talks with Maddie had got Buck through that. A lawsuit ruined all meaningful relationships he ever had? As long as Buck was able to come back on the job, he would be fine. A tsunami almost killed his best friend's son, the son he was supposed to protect? Alright, even Buck was still struggling about that. But Buck could handle anything, as long as he was in a fire truck, ready to run through the flames.
But the one that woke up in the middle of the night, in sweat and tears, that wasn't Buck. The one who would get panic attacks at the thought of driving next to the beach, that wasn't Buck. That was Evan. Always-alone-Evan, always-struggling-Evan, always-feeling-like-a-disappointment-Evan. Always-testing-his-luck-Evan. Surprised-he-was-still-alive-Evan. And without his job, he didn't know how to shut off this version of him.
