Summary
LA took him in and carved out a place for him to stay. A place to call home, where he doesn’t have to constantly chisel away pieces of himself as much as he used to and shape his broken heart after what people want of him. There’s peace in existing just the way he is in the 118 - a peace after Abby left him standing on that airport months ago, leaving him adrift in her old apartment with memories that haunt him harshly than any ghost ever could.
But - Buck isn’t going to throw any more of a bitch fit than he, admittedly, already has. Because Buck is almost a century old and he can be mature, thank you very much.
So, he takes it in stride and doesn’t complain when Bobby keeps pairing him up with Eddie. He’s silent, and mostly tries to be a team player. He gets what Eddie needs and Eddie smiles at him, but he doesn’t smile back because they’re not buddies. They’re civil, Buck decides, but not friends.
Buck will do anything in his power to keep the 118 in his life and Eddie Diaz, while a part of it, will be nothing more than a moment in his very long and lonely life.

And isn’t that a loaded question that Buck doesn’t even know how to start responding to.
Buck is having a hard time taking care of himself; Eddie won't let that happen.

Summary
For the prompt: Post lawsuit Buck is feeling super isolated and sad. When the blood thinners have a side effect leaving him with a painful itchy rash on his back, he does his best to hide it. One day Bobby piles on even more chores than usual, and one of the cleaning chemicals spills and makes contact with his back rash. Buck is in agony but says nothing. When it becomes too much Buck finally goes to Eddie for help. Eddie and co are horrified and feel super guilty, especially Bobby. Buddie ensures as Eddie takes all care of Buck like he should have from the very beginning.

Buck hated hospitals. It made him think of his first date with Abby, of the truck bombing, of the embolism, of the tsunami. Just, a lot of bad memories, is all.
Which is why he had wanted to tell everyone so quickly. Just so he didn’t have to go to this appointment on his own. Last week he had gone alone, thinking it would be just another check up and then his doctor had looked at him with pity in his eyes and told him they’d found abnormalities in his blood work and they needed him to stop taking his blood thinners and come back in a week.
His doctor had been simultaneously vague and clear when he told him what they would be looking for. Listing all the possible reasons that his blood cell counts were off. But on that list was cancer and Buck knew that with his fucking luck, it would be that. The look on his doctor’s face made him think that he thought so too.

Buck had meant to tell everyone, he had, really. But they were angry with him and he didn't want them to forgive him just because he might be dying. He needed to fix things first.

Most of what she knew had come from Maddie so it was all when Buck was a kid. If she thought about it, she knew almost nothing about Buck’s life between childhood and when he joined the 118.
He had mentioned some things like he used to travel and that he had spent some time in Peru, but other than that there was a 15-year gap in her knowledge of Buck. That was until the day that Buck went missing.
