He sunk his hand into his bag until his fingers closed around the bottle of poison. It would be so easy just to break it over the undefended king’s head. This was perfect. He’d planned any escape routes from here, there were no guards around, and it was almost completely dark. Phil would never see it coming; maybe it would be over before he even knew what happened. Then he wouldn’t have to stew in the betrayal for too long.
He could just see Phil’s smile in the glow of the fireflies; it was like a dying star, burning just enough to know that its time was almost up. Techno didn’t risk saying anything, just contemplating the weight of the bottle beside the weight of his guilt.
Finally, Phil spoke with the gentlest voice he’d ever heard, “Are you going to kill me, Technoblade?”

Summary
Tommy wailed in agony, the harsh impact and unforgiving cold against his back was a horrible pain he had not yet experienced. Even falling had not hurt this bad.
He cried and chattered for his sire to come for him, but there was only emptiness when he reached out.
“ Oh .”
The word was like a gentle breeze flowing through forest leaves— a sort of symphony in and of itself, reverent and gentle.
The fingers around his neck relaxed until Tommy could hardly feel them anymore. He still keened and whined his displeasure, his sensitive nerves pulsing shockwaves of pain throughout his entire body.
“Oh, hello,” The prey turned predator greeted gently. “I am sorry, little one. I did not mean to hurt you.”
Tommy cracked open a stinging eye to see blazing red ones and glittering fangs before him. It was a predator like him, but older. Much older.

"You make water towers out of water, Wilbur!" Tommy says, as if trying to force the words through his skull and into his brain, where they'll get processed and understood.
"I don't think you do, actually. I think the water just goes in them." Wilbur challenges, grin only widening when Tommy glares at him.
"Shut up, you don't know anything about water towers." Tommy grumbles, actually entering the room only to pace back and forth.
"Do enlighten me, then." Wilbur requests, done with the light-hearted jabs and just wanting to hear what his son has to say.
Or; Autistic Tommy ranting about water towers to a very amused (and fond) Wilbur.

Summary
Tommy stands a ways away from his still fangirling friends, looking at his phone to double check when their bus should be arriving. He can faintly hear chatter from the fans who aren't leaving yet from behind the wall he's leaning on.
Footsteps approach, making him look up.
"I knew it." Wilbur whispers, expression haunted and grim, eyes brimming with tears. "I knew- I knew I saw you in the crowd." Tommy gives him a sheepish smile. Wilbur inhales shakily, giving him a tiny, wobbly grin in return. It falls a moment later, and the man sniffles, swiping under his nose. Tommy has to hold back from throwing himself forward and crashing into Wilbur's arms.
Wilbur's expression flashes to something angry for a moment, then it just becomes somehow even sadder. He takes a step forward, reaching out and cupping Tommy's face in his oddly cold hands. His hands have always been cold.
"I thought you were dead." Wilbur sobs, voice just barely above a whisper, straining and cracking. Tommy winces.
Or; Wilbur used to be Tommy's tutor, he sees the man again years later by accident.

Summary
It is pure coincidence that Techno finds him when he does.
He, admittedly, had been putting off a visit to Tommy for a while. He knew that their relationship stood on shaky ground, one small blow and it would all fall over. He didn’t want to try and risk their tentative friendship to turn even more sour.
His visit had nothing to do with the surge of voices suddenly begging him to visit him. Nope. Not at all.

After stumbling upon a newly presented Tommy, Techno takes him back to his house for some healing. Afterall, growing wings is a lot of work and there's no way Tommy will heal up if he's stuck in some flimsy tent. Little does Techno know, but he is now attached, no take-backsies.

Summary
Tommy lets out a disgruntled meow, though he doesn't fight Wilbur as the two cuddle up together, wrapped in one another’s arms, small stuttering purrs building up in their chests.
Tommy relaxes, letting his exhaustion and sleepiness wash over him as rain starts to pour from outside. Thunder accompanies it, yet it's mostly drowned out by Wilbur’s purr, as the older cat buries his face in Tommy’s fur, the two settling down to the constant sound of rain hitting the roof.
It was nice, and Wilbur is warm, his purr lulling him to sleep, making his mind go all fuzzy as he curls in closer to the cat.
Or Tommy is a cat shifter who runs into the stray cat Wilbur, and decides that he was going to befriend him no matter what.

Wilbur and Tommy lived a happy life: a content life.
They swam in circles in their bowl and didn’t complain. They had a nice home inside the pirate ship where they could cuddle up with each other. Wilbur loved his baby brother so much. Loved his cute, little, chubby face. Loved his blank stare. Perhaps others couldn’t see the emotion in it, but Wilbur could.
Wilbur brushed against Tommy, scales rubbing together. Wilbur noticed the goldfish begin to sink to the bottom, clearly ready for a rest.
Or, Wilbur and Tommy are goldfish shifters. Phil doesn’t realize his fish are more than they seem.

Helping a young, wild mer get free from a net was pretty standard work for marine biologists and mer experts Wilbur and Phil. But Wil couldn’t get it out of his head.
Maybe it was the other mer’s worryingly bony frame. Or the fact that their distress call had summoned none of their podmates. (Wilbur always got attached too fast).Or: mer!Clingyduo aren’t bad at living alone, per se. It’s more like everything dangerous in this goddamned ocean is bad at leaving them alone. (Much like sbi, once they realize what’s going on).

Straazien are EXTREMELY rare.
They are powerful and feared. Yet none are known to attack without extreme provocation.
They were gentle giants with strange, unstudied abilities.
To get your hands on one would be well... it’d probably fetch the same price as a human.
The other most feared creature in the galaxy.
And while humans are significantly smaller than Straazien, they are far more violent.
While Straazien are known as gentle giants, humans are known as ruthless killers. One thing they have in common, they are both hard to kill.
Straaziens have almost an armor of stars for scales, while humans just don’t quit. Staying alive by sheer will.
And you see...
Tommy was a Straazien. A baby one.
Or, Tommy’s parents get killed by hunters and he gets captured. He then finds Wilbur, a human captured by the same hunters.

Summary
Wilbur was having a good day.
He was! Things were going well. The world was in order. His domain was running smoothly. He had just picked up his offerings from the main church and he listened in on their pretty songs they sang for him.
It was nice.
Until…
He felt a very strong pull. A very dark pull.
Wilbur felt rage fill him, eyes alight with angry flame.
He thought he had rid the world of cults. Of their dirty sacrifices that he never desired. They tried to tempt him with the blood of his people and meaningless suffering.
But it seemed another had formed and by the feeling coursing through his body…
It was a human sacrifice.
Or, god Wilbur gets sacrificed a small blond boy. Wilbur isn’t a fan of human sacrifices but he finds himself attached to the boy and continues to bless the boy until adoption.
If any CCS state they are uncomfortable with this kind of fic, then I will take it down!

Wilbur helped the little girl pick out another fish when movement caught his eye. A golden tail swishing out of sight and into the pirate ship.
Wilbur blinked a few times. Something just seemed... off. The tail didn’t seem exactly right for a goldfish. Wilbur shrugged and went back to what he was doing.
Or, Baby sirens are tiny and Tommy happens to be one who got caught up in a net and now has to survive in a pet shop. Wilbur just so happens to work said pet shop.

Summary
He's singing into the storm, voice weaving with the wind as it whips spray into his face.
A sound cuts through the trance. It’s faint, but his ears can’t ignore it. He's abruptly pulled back to himself, eyes frantically roving the surface of the waves.
There, a speck of sodden red. He's only able to see it a moment before a cresting wave swallows it. The thing disappears, but not before it lets out another desperate cry.
Wilbur's storm-intensified instincts surge. He's diving from the rock before he can think.Wilbur wakes slowly. He winces as he uncurls, pain shooting down his tail. The cavern feels so much smaller today—scud, his head hurts. Something in his arms wiggles and he jerks back, hitting his shoulder on the rock wall.
Scud, he says, or tries to say—the word won’t leave his mouth. His throat aches, probably from the singing. That’s normal. What isn’t normal is the thing sleeping in his cavern.

Tommy took a step back.
Then several.
Flashes of hostile memories blinded him, all too similar circumstances as this ending in the same way. Memories of tears and screams and that horrible smell.
Unlatching from Techno, Wilbur inhaled and exclaimed a little too loudly, “Tommy! My sweet baby, come here, sunshine,” Wilbur staggered forwards, reaching out to Tommy, “I love you so much, Toms, my-“
Wilbur hesitated when Tommy jumped back like he’d been burned.
Wilbur’s face fell into shock at the realization of what Tommy was thinking. What Wilbur had forgotten.
Or: Wilbur comes home drunk and forgets Tommy’s boundaries and triggers. Tommy has only ever seen the abusive side of intoxication and reacts accordingly. Tommy isolates himself, blaming himself for his reaction as Wilbur tries to get through to him.
