“We’ve got some weird flavours in this batch.” Soap makes a face. “Turkey and cranberry stuffing?!”
“Well yeah,” Ghost says, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “It is Christmas today. That’ll be the little present baseplate mentioned.”
Soap blinks. He looks around the room. It’s still a bare bones, brick safehouse with sand on the floor, guns neatly laid out on the dining table (Soap), and two sniper rifles leaning haphazardly against the wall (Ghost). The kitchen bin is overflowing with discarded ration packs, and the cabinets are covered in documents he’ll have to burn before they leave.
“Huh.” Soap puts the rations down. “So it is.”
It's Christmas, and Soap and Ghost are stuck in a safehouse.

Cody will survive the war, at least, even if it is to mourn him.
The thought stabs through him, more excruciating than the lightning. Of all the people he didn’t want to leave behind, Cody is the foremost. So much sacrificed in this war, so much lost, but Cody is the one good thing he’s found.

When Obi-Wan Kenobi was twelve, he was told he was too angry to ever be a Jedi. He wasn’t good enough.
Only weeks later, he offered up his life in exchange for hundreds of others and Qui-Gon Jinn found him worthy.
When Obi-Wan was thirteen, he chose the war-torn streets of Melida/Daan over the orders of Master Jinn, and he ceased being a padawan of the Jedi Order. He resolved the conflict there and then, unsure where else to go, sought out his family on Tatooine.
It was clear he couldn’t fit himself back into a life he was taken from as a small child. So, just shy of his fourteenth birthday, Ben Lars presented himself to the AgriCorps.

Summary
Johnny's picked up a habit of keeping his life in a journal. All it took was one random night to start slowly letting Ghost in, page by page. But after having to relive what happened in Las Almas and a string of bad missions, maybe Ghost knows a little too much now. Soap's front is crumbling and he doesn't know what that will mean in terms of the two's growing camaraderie.
Simon has picked up on almost everything little thing Johnny does. The terrifying thing? Soap's done the same. Ghost knows that their dynamic will only continue to shift, and he's not ready for where it will take them. His only mission is to keep Johnny safe... how far will he go to do that?
A story of two men both wanting the same thing but being too terrified of what the other might think.
**Note: I began writing this a while ago so this will follow the events of MWII and will most likely not include details from MWIII.
