Summary
"There was something else I wished to speak with you about," he said, not looking up from the returning letter that he was penning. Dan Heng hummed curiously, glancing across the scattered books. Perhaps a continuation of their conversation the day before about the medical properties of various herbs across the universe? "Regarding our relationship-"
Dan Heng immediately shoved himself up, preparing to leave. "I need to-"
The tail which had been innocently curled around him suddenly wrapped around his waist and dragged him back down and Dan Feng turned to glare at him. "You need to sit and listen."

Summary
Yokai AU where Dan Feng is a Kitsune (Fox Spirit) and Ren is a Tengu (Bird-like Spirit): Living a solitary life in the mountains, Ren’s normal routine is rudely interrupted when he finds an injured kitsune in his backyard. One with a very familiar face.
“Alas, I do not know who I can trust amongst my own," the fox laments. "So I’m afraid I will have to impose upon you for a time."
Ren glares at the sly sway of Dan Feng’s tails, the tenko’s supremely unconcerned expression.
A suspicion rises in his heart—is this bastard treating it as a vacation?
Is it too late to throw Dan Feng off his mountain?

Summary
Dan Heng is turned towards the colossal moon slumbering on the sky's pitch-black bedsheets. The moonlight illuminates his bone-chilling calm and freezes it in an elegant picture frame. Blade catches his own staring and cleaves it in twain.
The mara won't accompany him to the oceanfront. It's so freeing that he feels hollow and nauseous.
Dan Heng rises, shakes snow off his person, and leaps down from the ledge, bridging the distance between himself and Blade. There's enough light that Blade can see his every feature with striking clarity. His pupils are blown wide, unnerving compared to the narrow slits he bears in broad daylight. He looks distinctly human this way.
Nothing is said for a long while. They both know what needs to be addressed.
Blade thickly swallows his sickness right when Dan Heng beats him to it with, "I'm sorry about—"
"Don't." Blade's next breath impales his lungs. "I'm… sorry. For leaving the way I did."
Feeling guilty over departing for death on harsh terms, Blade invites Dan Heng to a private bath in Inkford Hermitage, apprehensive about what binds them together and which foundations they exist on.
