Yingxing stilled at the unexpected refusal, temper stirring. "What was that? Think very carefully about your next words, Jing Yuan."
If he'd expected the implied threat to cow the boy he'd have been very disappointed, because it only made him stand up and side-eye Yingxing. "I said no. I don't want to, so I'm staying right here."
Oh now he was asking for it.

Summary
Sometimes he still wondered how Caleus and Stelle had talked him into this, when he was staring down a particularly questionable request, but then he saw the amount of money he had for tuition, books, and research trips at the end of the month and he stopped wondering.
It was almost more frustrating that it was incredibly easy too. He didn't even edit his videos much, and his walk-in closet was set up as his "stage" so there was nothing recognizable to be found. Dan Heng didn't go to bars for fun but Dan Feng and Yingxing had a date that they'd apparently been planning for months so Dan Heng had removed himself from the house for the night. Which left him with nothing really to do, and it was late enough that most regular places were closed. He was going to spend a few hours here, trying various drinks and food on Dan Feng's tab just to see what he liked about this place, and then he'd grab a hotel room and either go to bed or work on his latest research paper. That was it.
A plan that was thoroughly disrupted by an unfamiliar man sliding into the seat next to him at the bar. "Can I help you?" he asked, not quite managing polite.
"I think you can," the man said in a light voice that spelled trouble, gold eyes glinting. "Can I buy you a drink?"

As he took a step forward with the intent on hurrying past, the man instead stepped between he and the path forward.

"Like hell." Ren growled and wrenched his head away, but it only made Jing Yuan chuckle and allow it as his plans solidified.
