Summary
Shen Qingqiu dies on Maigu Ridge. Given the opportunity from a mysterious entity calling itself "the System," Luo Binghe takes the opportunity to try again, and perhaps save his Shizun and himself a significant amount of suffering.
But the System is nefarious, insistent, and firm: some things must play out as they are supposed to, and Binghe must take great care in how he reveals the truth of his identity, and to whom. With a very short list of allies, he hopes--desperately--that he can avert the tragedies of his first life, and ensure that the world he lives in is one that's worth saving.

Summary
After losing the Grandfather who raised him, Shiro throws himself headlong back into life at the Garrison. Desperate to believe that everything is fine, Shiro focuses on his extra studies, on working as Commander Iverson’s TA, on anything but dealing with his grief or giving himself space to mourn. For the most part, his façade fools everybody. Unfortunately for his desire to avoid dealing with his problems, compartmentalizing and denial can only last so long before something has to give.
On the other hand is Keith. A driven cadet who’s earned everything that he has to his name, Keith sees Shiro as little more than a useless pretty boy whose family has a legacy with the Galaxy Garrison. As far as he knows, Shiro’s only gotten so far at the Garrison through a mix of dumb luck and nepotism. Keith’s perfectly content not to question any of his preconceived ideas about the Garrison’s resident golden boy. Unfortunately for his resolve, he keeps catching Shiro in vulnerable moments and spotting details that other people miss.
