A new kid joins the school, just like at the start of every year, so this shouldn’t be anything special, right? Wrong, because said new kid joins the football team, and Cris has to deal with the fact he might not be the best after all. Naturally, he becomes cold and bitter, but who says the new kid will just deal with that?
Lines begin to blur between right and wrong, feelings begin to form, and too many words get left unsaid. — But the ones that are said? Might just be the final straw.

Summary

Achilles tilts his chin up defiantly, in an effort to stare Patroclus down. He only succeeds in looking like a petulant child. “It is considered a great honour to be a therapon to a prince, you know.”
“Honour is meant to be earned, not handed out as if to a beggar, or a dog.”
Achilles’ nostrils flare, his green-gold eyes gleaming dangerously. “Such scorn from someone who was training to be a common footsoldier just this morning. Many of the boys back at the yard would beg for this chance.”
“Then you should have chosen one of them, perhaps." Patroclus glances down at the expensive chiton and his brand new arms, and hates how heavy and foreign they feel on him. “I didn’t ask for any of this.”
The last thing Patroclus wants is to become therapon to the Prince of Phthia. He had his fill of princelings back when he lived in Opus—hell, he used to be one himself. He doesn't need some stuck-up demigod to size him up and appoint him his glorified manservant. He'd much rather pass, thank you very much.
Achilles, however, is unlike any prince he's ever met.

Remus lifted his eyes to take in the royal family. The queen sat on an ornate chair, looking haughty and cruel with a particular twist to her lips. His gaze drifted to the prince. He was pretty. Remus had expected that. He had the same high cheekbones and arched eyebrows as his mother, with a piercing blue stare. His raven-hair was carefully arranged as it cascaded to his shoulders. He looked too angelic to be involved in the kinds of atrocities his family had committed. But he had been. And Remus would kill all of them for it. But for now, he had to stick to his stupid mission and play nice enough to get picked as their new dog.
He glared up unflinchingly at the man seated in front of him. The announcer cleared his throat and gestured at his face. Remus reached up and peeled off the mask. He spit out the blood in his mouth and made a slight bow.
The announcer made another frantic noise. Balling his fingers into tight fists, he lowered down and dropped on one knee, bowing forward to the man but holding his gaze. "My prince," he muttered through gritted teeth, just loud enough to be heard, "I humbly ask for your favour."

Sirius stubs his own cigarette out on the stones. “When… when you get your soul marking… Do you think you’re going to try to find them?” Sirius asks softly.
Remus lets the filter drop from his fingers as he grabs another cigarette. He lights it with a snap of his fingers and breathes it in.
“Not sure,” He admits with a soft exhale out into the night sky. "I’m not sure I could ever ask anyone else to spend the rest of their life with me. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t have one show up at all.”
“Oh please,” Sirius nudges him. “Everyone gets a soulmate, Moons. Even self-deprecating werewolves.”
Remus rolls his eyes. “I don’t think my soulmate would want me, Pads.”
Sirius sighs. Remus catches him looking up at the sky before whispering so soft Remus can barely make it out. “Anyone would be lucky to have you, Remus.”
