A small girl only around five perched on the stairs peered curiously at the sight of the beautiful man sitting opposite her father her gaze lingering momentarily on those dark eyes. She had been sat there for only a few minutes, but even as both men sat in a thick silence she could tell; that whatever they had previously been arguing about hung heavy in the air.

Nikolai opened his mouth to answer, but nothing escaped but a croak. A second attempt left him hacking away once more.
He flopped back onto the ground, a doleful look on his face.
“Can’t talk?”
He shook his head with a theatric pout.
Despite his obvious unwellness, Zoya couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “Nikolai Lantsov silenced? I never thought I’d see the day.”
After the battle with Elizaveta, Nikolai and Zoya attempt to make the journey back to Os Alta. Except, Nikolai is injured, Zoya is exhausted, and Yuri is an almighty pain in the ass.
And to top it all off, Nikolai is definitely (despite what he says) falling ill. And Zoya is definitely (despite what she says) falling a little bit in love.
