Summary
A wave washes over my face, shocking me back to my immediate situation. I’m alive, somehow, but for how long? As I tread water, my mind races with various explanations as to what the fuck is going on. Is this the afterlife? Some sort of twisted dream? Or something else entirely?
In the distance, I hear what sounds like a yell. Hope blooms in my chest as I turn towards the noise, squinting against the sun's glare on the water. Is that a boat? Hope surges within me as I begin to swim, determined to reach a reprive from my crazy predicament.
Suddenly, something whips past my face and I realize that it had to have come from the ship ahead of me. I turn to look at the object, only to notice the odd skin-like texture of it. Is that... an arm??

"The world seemed to slow down as Luffy laid there, reaching for Ace’s vivre card. The precious card that Ace had given to him before he continued his chase for - what was his name again? Terry? Terrence? Thatch? ‘That Bastard’ was what Luffy decided on absentmindedly as he grasped the corners of the vivre card. After all, That Bastard was the one who sent Ace to Impel Down. To hell.
A sudden yell that sounded like 'wait!' made Luffy’s head snap up. He watched as Akainu focused his attention from Ace to him. Well shit. Looks like he's the target now, he thought dimly, as he saw Akainu switch positions and rush at him.
He tried to move, but his limbs seemed glued to the rock-hard ground. ‘Move,’ Luffy inwardly screamed at himself, ‘MOVE!’
'Ba-dum.'"
In summary, the Paramount War definitely didn't go as planned. And the Whitebeard Pirates most definitely didn't expect for a new, powerful trump card to form from of a battered, beaten body. They're not going to complain, though.
(or, a gear 5 fic where luffy goes batshit insane. the marines are absolutely terrified.).

Mandalorians had this odd sense of humour where they liked watching strangers get teary eyed from eating the spiciest dishes.
“Familiar with pirpaak ?”
“Not this particular one, but familiar enough to know what to expect.” Ben replied.
Food was an important part of Mandalorian culture. Aliite tended to have conflict over whose dish was the better recipe. It was like Jedi and their tea blends.
“Where did you have it?”
“Sundari.” Ben replied, “It was a lifetime ago.”
“Ughh, Sundari’s drap? What’s the name of the place?”
“I am unsure, though it might have been a bit spicier than this one.” Ben hid a smile at the outrage that followed his claim by taking another bite. Pretending not to notice the chaos he had caused, Ben glanced at the Mand’alor who was watching him in amusement.
“Ever visited Keldabe?”
Ben hid a laugh. “Only ran through it, really.”
“What a shame. I will show you around.” Jaster offered.
Ben smiled, “I would not say no to that.”
