Standing on the porch, watching the cruiser’s headlights disappear down the drive, Jihoon is hit, suddenly, by how isolated he is out here. He can just about spot the chimney spout of the next house over the Cherry tree grove, but that’s the only other living soul for miles, and God knows what the nearby town holds.
One grocery store, if he’s lucky. A post office, maybe. A police station because where else will Officer Split Personality Choi Seungcheol spend his days confusing people. There might be a coffee shop too, but Jihoon doubts he’ll be getting his Americano there. Here’s the thing. Soonyoung is a firm believer that you can do anything you put your mind to. Exhibit A, his classmates thought he’d never become an idol with a face as average as his, and yet here he is, with fans that call him sexy onstage and adorable off. He’s like this with most things: he wanted to be cool like SHINee, so he practiced their dances until he could do them in his sleep. The company said he was bad at singing, so he trained and trained and trained until he was good. He was bored of adhering to someone else’s choreography, so he made his own. There isn’t very much that Soonyoung just accepts as a limitation.
