Her eyes flit over to Max, who Furiosa realizes she’s standing in front of as though to shield from Toast’s gaze. She starts to move out of his way but then thinks better of it, unsure of the, ah, state, Max is currently in. Shielding him from Toast’s gaze might be the right call.
A light, fluffy fic for the prompt: “Max and Furiosa keep getting interrupted, much to their annoyance and the horror/amusement of everyone else.”

“Well, I say I get to go first, seeings how he bit me.” The whiny voice, younger but somehow crueler sounding is right there too, and suddenly there are hands tugging at his belt, trying to shove his trousers down his legs. The unease he felt before blooms into horror now as Max comprehends what they’re doing, what they’re going to do.

For a moment he thinks she’s telling him to get off the rig, and he bristles in anticipation of a fight. That’s what you get for trusting people Max, you help them out of a jam, save each other’s lives a few times, then get kicked out into the open desert as soon as the dust has started to clear. He opens his mouth to retort that he’s not going anywhere thank you very much, but now she’s staring at his crotch with a hunger in her eyes and… oh. That kind of getting off.

All he can do is wait, for the storm to pass, for his head to clear. He doesn’t know for how long. Sometimes it only takes a few hours to go back to feeling normal, sometimes a few days. The… blackouts? spells? He doesn’t really know what to call them, they come and go with no rhyme or reason that he can determine. Someday one will come at the wrong time he knows. Someday he won’t be alone, and his lowered defenses will cost him his life. Someday, just surviving won’t be enough.

“No.” Furiosa cuts her off with a glare. Valkyrie, damn her, only smiles wider, knowing she’s hit a mark if Furiosa’s getting snappy.
“You could though. I didn’t get a good look really, but he seemed healthy. I bet all his gears grind right, if you know what I mean.” She gives Furiosa a jab in the ribs at this.Takes place in a canon alternate reality, where Furiosa was never taken from the Green Place and grew up there. On a trade run she meets Max, wasteland wanderer and potential fathering material for the future of the Green Place. Unfortunately, people from the outside are dangerous and can’t be trusted. Furiosa has to decide if Max is worth the danger he represents. Warnings for rough sex and in passing references to miscarriages and rape.
