All Harry has to do is survive the year, prevent a few horcrux related tragedies, avoid Grindelwald, possibly kill Tom Riddle, and get home.

So what if he was being dramatic. It was very tiresome to have to buy one phone every other day because they always exploded, just stopped working, got transfigured accidentally, or vanished.
OR
Harry Potter is so done with his magic making all his cell phones explode, so he decides to find someone who can fix it. He was thinking of a Wizard, but that wasn't specified in the runic array. Now, he's in Japan and he thinks he's being probably experimented on.
But, oh well, if he makes the phone work, it will be fine.
