Summary
Her driver's eyes widen a little. “Uh, sure thing, Chief, but what am I going to tell the adjutant if she asks where you are?”
Chief's hand freezes on the edge of the car door. Somehow, Nightingale is the one thing she's completely forgotten in all this.
She hastily scrambles for an answer. “Tell her I'm at a social event, urgent business. She'll know what I mean.” Chief only hopes she doesn't know precisely what she means by that.

“We'll be there by tomorrow,” Chief replies confidently. “Things have been calmer than I thought out here, so we're making good time. Tomorrow, I promise.”
And just like that the conversation ends. Hilda goes quiet again, the only sound between them the hum of the engine. Chief drums her fingers on the wheel.
“Aren't you going to ask where I'm taking you?”

Suddenly, the voice stopped. Hella froze and flexed her hand frantically to snuff out the flame. She leaned in closer, torn between the fear of discovery and the urge to hear more. If it was who she thought, and they were getting ready to leave, then if she timed it right she could get the jump on them as payback for keeping her cooped up for so long.
Then the door swung open and Chief's tired eyes looke down at her.
Hella froze. “Uh...” she said, feebly hunting for an excuse. “...Surprise?”

“Ring ring,” says an intimately familiar voice. “This is your Call at 3AM. Hello Chief.”
“Hey.” Chief has to focus, hard, to avoid what she's feeling creep into her voice. “You doing okay, Eleven?”
Eleven giggles. “I'm doing fine. After all, I'm not the one who only just got back from the Rust. I hear you had quite the rough time out there.”
“Y-yeah,” Chief says, “we did. How did you-?”

Words won't do that justice at all. Any of it. Not to the fractured red halo around her head, the thorny links of the Shackles protruding out of her skin, nor for the spiderweb filaments of light that twine around her body and glow like luminescent veins beneath her flesh.
So she doesn't. Chief lets her mouth drift shut and then turns away. If there is nothing she can say then she simply won't. She picks up the pace.

It's another busy day in the MBCC and Rise has been sticking to her rigorous work routine even in the face of the latest mission needing so much admin work. However seeing how much paperwork there is to deal with, she can't help but worry about Chief overworking herself.

There are some great quick-and-dirty guides to HTML on A03. This is not one of them - it is a comprehensive guide
It's now 2025, a decade later. A03 supports some new HTML and and we're all walking around reading fic on supercomputers that fit in a jean pocket. It was time to update.
The previous three chapters have been divided into smaller concepts. Each tag continues to have - at a minimum - a link to the w3schools page about it (so you can learn more), a code example, and the result of the code example. Most tags have their attributes, things like [src] or [title], listed and examples of how using the attributes modify the tags.
There's a chapter on Bad Ideas, including how some of the archive's default CSS is available to you to format your work (users can't turn that off by hiding a workskin!)
Oh. And I added a bunny army. You could learn how to add one too.
