or: someone's trying to open a new gate in New York. at the same time, Nancy Wheeler, now a reporter for the Times, her husband Jonathan and their boyfriend Steve go missing. the former Party suspects these two events are linked. meanwhile, the Defenders are trying to figure out what the hell is going on in New York again, while Matt Murdock throws himself into crime-fighting once more, stumbling on something else entirely.
Foggy Nelson, also known as Dustin Henderson-Nelson (thanks mom), is just trying to put his life back together in the wake of Midland Circle. this is not what he had in mind.

Daredevil swallows because he has to. “It’s Karen,” he says, voice a rough whisper.
The Punisher turns into Frank Castle in an instant. His constant anger is overwhelmed by worry. “Where is she? What happened?”
“She’s--”
“I thought you were gonna keep her safe, Red. That’s why I--” Frank’s mouth forms a thin line, jaw tensing, as he inhales through flaring nostrils. “Doesn’t matter.” He runs a hand over his head. “Where is she?”
Daredevil, stunned despite the knowledge that Frank Castle is not just a killer, breathes raggedly for a moment. Lets himself sense all that tension, the coiling of muscles, the irregularity of Frank’s breathing. “She’s fine,” he says quickly. “She’s fine, she’s just--” He can feel the way Frank’s hackles drop and something like relief must pour over him. “You slept with her.” And suddenly his own anger is back. “You’re-- you’re dangerous. You bring danger. And you slept with her. Didn’t you think--”
“I don’t see how that’s any of your goddamn business,” Frank interrupts, but he hears something in Frank’s voice that sounds almost like guilt. “You got the hots for her? Ask her out. She’s her own person.”
“She’s pregnant."

Summary
What it says on the box, really. I got bit by the fantasy AU bug, and because I watch more Disney than is strictly good for me, this is what my brain came up with. A Little Mermaid AU that nobody asked for, featuring changeling merman!Bucky and Navy sailor!Steve.
For the purposes of this fic, the Barnes children's ages are reversed - Rebecca is the elder, and Bucky the younger. The age difference is around seven years; at the beginning of the story, Bucky is two, and Rebecca is nine. Also, the narration is a little fourth-wall-ish; I've tried to tell it like a real fairytale, so on occasion the narrator 'speaks' to the audience. I just felt like I should mention that.
